I am deeply saddened to announce the tragic death of volunteer Samiha Rakhamiya of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent who lost her life while carrying out a humanitarian mission to rescue people stranded by floods in rural Lattakia. Five other volunteers were also injured.

On behalf of the @IFRC, I send my deepest condolences to her loved ones and colleagues at the @SYRedCrescent and wish a full recovery to the injured.
