The institutionalization of partnerships in the #EasternMediterranean has been extraordinary.
Progress and potential were on full display at the @AtlanticCouncil’s Global Energy Forum. The best is yet to come.
@mehhy_turk@yannisvyaylali Yes, according to the official EU Survey, Greece is at 36.5%, which is above the EU average of 30.7%. However, several countries report substantially higher figures. This does not change the fact that Turkey has the highest reported rates of violence against women in the world.
In the lead up to the FIFA World Cup 2026, the world should know that the Islamic Republic, one of the participating teams in the tournament, has killed 12 male and female footballers in just the past three months. That is more than an entire football team on the pitch. In this thread, I will name them one by one also will be updated over time.
Rebin Moradi, a Saipa FC player, and Zahra Azadpour, a Mehrgan Pardis player who also previously played for the Iran national team, were among those killed during the protests.
The Ottoman Turks persecuted both Jews in the Holy Land and the Christians in Mount Lebanon. Jews in the Ottoman Empire were dhimmis (second-class subjects of the empire), who were heavily taxed and systematically discriminated against.
As for Christians in Lebanon, Ottomans targeted them through a brutal campaign called kafno (famine). The Ottoman authorities, under Jamal Pasha and the Young Turk regime, imposed and enforced policies that killed around 200,000 to 300,000 Christians between 1915 and 1918. Nearly half of the population of Mount Lebanon died: https://t.co/zr8qHPDWxb
In so many cases, Turks leave Turkey or the Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus but the Turkish indoctrination does not leave them.
🇹🇷 Interior Minister utters middle school Islamist fantasy: "Turkey will rule Jerusalem again"
Hyperbole?
Yes - but his words also outline a mindset, a vision characteristic of Turkish officials

🚨The loser ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan has now been suspended. He’s facing allegations of sexual misconduct.
I’m old enough to remember the far-left was cheering him on not too long ago.
“For a senior cabinet minister responsible for Turkey’s internal security to openly voice a desire to govern Jerusalem — and to suggest that Israel will one day return to Turkish rule — illustrates how deeply neo-Ottoman themes have become embedded within the rhetoric of Erdogan’s government.”
Spot on by @SinanCiddi
The Ottomans and their Islamist fans fantasise about the return of the Ottoman Empire

With a strong emphasis on respect for international law and the sovereign rights of states over their natural resources, the East Med Gas Forum held in Washington under the Greek presidency, reaffirmed the participants’ commitment to advancing a different model of cooperation for the future of the EastMed. https://t.co/76gj8fBnFd
“The deportation began some six weeks ago with 180 families from Zeitoun, since which time all the inhabitants of that place and its neighbouring villages have been deported. . .”*
8 June 1915: As 1000s of Zeytun Armenians are deported, Ottoman govt renames the town Süleymanlı.
@mehhy_turk@yannisvyaylali Can’t you even comprehend what you read? Violence against women happens worldwide. Why are you fixating on Greece when it ranks much lower? The point is that Turkey tops the list as the worst country.
@ACKssn@Sarahhuniverse Thanks for the concern. Apparently I’m simultaneously unemployed, old, and still taking up enough space in your head for you to write a paragraph about me. Enjoy the World Cup.
@kajakallas Interesting that you haven’t said a word about Turkey harassing EU defense ministers on their way to Cyprus yesterday. I can only imagine the outrage if Russia had done the same.
Turkish forces interfered with a military aircraft carrying European defense ministers to an EU meeting in Cyprus, the Cypriot government has said, adding it will lodge formal complaints over the incidents.

@ACKssn@Sarahhuniverse Ok, I understand you’re too embarrassed to answer my question, so I’ll do it for you.
The Turkish national football team has never won a major senior international title, such as the FIFA World Cup or the UEFA European Championship.
Have a nice day 👋
@ACKssn@Sarahhuniverse I’m asking about the Turkish team and still waiting — for you to answer my question. How many major trophies has the Turkish national team actually won?
Erdogan shows his colors again. Von der Leyen was right to place Turkey and Russia in the same category and argue to complete the European project against both. A federal Europe 🇪🇺 has a simple policy; Russia out of Ukraine and Turkey out of Cyprus
🚨 Turkey’s “Denial” Just Proved the Point
Turkey just officially denied that its aircraft harassed the planes carrying EU Defence Ministers (including Greece’s Nikos Dendias) to Cyprus for the informal Defence Council meeting.
But read their statement carefully:
Their denial actually confirms everything.
Turkey does not accept Cyprus’s airspace or sovereignty. It considers Republic of Cyprus “expired” after the invasion/occupation of the northern part
It openly claims the right to violate and usurp the Cyprus Flight Information Region — treating the illegal “TRNC” as its puppet protectorate and using its army to “defend” non-existent “rights.”
This is not a one-off.
It’s a continuous provocation and a direct challenge to EU airspace and the security of European citizens in Cyprus.
Yet… silence ,no European outrage ….
No emergency statements. No sanctions.
It is not happening over the Baltics !
Because it’s not the Russians threatening Europeans.
