I spent the general election warning that Labour were going to 'discover' a £20 billion black hole.
I also said if they refused to properly raise taxes on the well-off, that would mean yet more disastrous cuts.
This is exactly what went on to happen.
The 'Conservative' Party is in far more trouble than widely reported in the press. They face near wipeout at the next election, losing in the process a great deal of their Parliamentary talent (such as it is). Let's crunch numbers to show what a mess they're in.

It's worth revisiting this very good thread from last November to see just how much worse things have got for the Tories in those seven months.
At the time, 'near wipeout' was a 1997-ish type result. Now, it's ending with under 100 seats against a Labour majority over 300.
My God.
You spend weeks researching Israeli crimes in detail, and yet still, South Africa's case at the ICJ shocks beyond words.
Those who cheered on this historic crime should be forced to watch it.
How they will ever scrub away the shame is beyond me.
Shocking & shameless. Blocking an elected, popular Labour Mayor from standing again.
Labour's Leadership promised to devolve power to communities. But this is top-down & authoritarian.
We call on the whole labour movement to urgently speak out against this attack on democracy.
This is what right-wing demagogues have done through history.
When a country is in the grip of social crisis - when a society is unable to meet the basic needs of its citizens - they try to redirect our fury on to desperate people fleeing foreign lands.
Cracking journalism by Sky News.
It feels invigorating after all these years to finally have a big news outlet expose this awfulness.
They can’t get sued in the way the little guy does when we point it out.
UK billionaires increased their wealth by over £55 billion last year.
UK workers real wages are set to fall by almost 8% this year.
Wealth doesn’t trickle down, it’s hoovered up.
From tonight's LabourList email digest. Really? If you had treated the 2017 Manifesto as our 'foundational document' there would be no question.
Seems we have #ZombieGovernment and #ZombieOpposition.
Nationalise our energy!
Starmer's indifference to standing with workers in dispute in the face of a cost of living crisis caused by rampant profiteering reaps predictable results.
This win shows the new direction of @unitetheunion. We will defend our members pay and conditions, however long it takes. This continuous action has delivered real terms pay increases for our members. #covbinstrike#JobsPayConditions 1/3
@UniteSharon@unitetheunion Solidarity with the Coventry refuse collectors and with all working class people fighting for a decent income. When the workforce unites in the struggle they win. Simple as…..
Solidarity with @jon_trickett showing support for the @RMTunion today, and with @SamTarry Disappointing that the other Wakefield District Labour MPs and our party leader seem to have forgotten who we are here to represent.
So the outcome of the Labour Party's handling of the Wakefield By-election selection process was:
⛔Less than 1/5 of members voting
⛔The resignation of the CLP Executive Committee
⛔A potential legal challenge to the process as being in breach of Party Rules
⛔Demoralisation😪😪
