This is more heartbreaking than I could have imagined it would be. May God be with us all as we try to discern whether we should stay or go, with the UMC as it splinters & even withers, & with our members who had to hear their church say it doesn’t want them today. #umcgc#gc19
These protests, these cries of “No!” have been echoing since the vote. It is the sound of profound grief, that sinking feeling when you wake up in the morning and slowly come to the awful awareness that someone you love has died. We have witnessed the death of our church. #GC2019
There is nothing to celebrate. No matter the final outcome of the proposal, the ending was still Christ’s Bride still being split into two. This should break everyone’s heart. #UMCGC#GC2019
The fact that LGBTQ+ delegates are still able to think clearly enough to raise points of order--only moments after traumatically homophobic proceedings--speaks to the tenacity and genius of queer people #gc2019
There is God. And then there is the church. The less we conflate the two, the better. The church may reject God’s children, but God never does. To my queer siblings, I’m so sorry. You are glorious. #GC2019
Let me be very clear: at no point in my speech did I name who might be buying votes. I merely said that there are rumors. If EITHER side is engaging in this behavior it is WRONG and not of Christ. Any assumption of about whom I spoke is on you. #gc2019
Resurrection happened on the 3rd day because the movement of God could not be legislated!!! Resurrection happened because those told to be silent finally found their voice! #gc2019
