A young American is dead in Barcelona. That alone should be enough to demand answers.

The death of James Gracey cannot be just another headline that fades with the news cycle.

We owe him, and we owe his family, the dignity of a full and serious investigation into how he died. Not speculation. Not assumptions. Facts.

This is not about alarm. It’s about principle.

When an American is harmed abroad, the United States must make it unmistakably clear: we pursue the truth, we demand accountability, and we do not tolerate harm against our own, anywhere.

Because if we fail to do that, we are not just failing one family, we are signaling to the world that harming Americans carries no consequence.
