NETFLIX, DISNEY, YOUTUBE EYE US WORLD CUP RIGHTS WORTH UP TO $2B

Netflix $NFLX, Disney $DIS and Alphabet's $GOOGL YouTube are all interested in challenging Fox $FOXA for the US broadcast rights to the 2030 and 2034 World Cup, per CNBC. Media executives are budgeting $1.5B-$2B for each tournament across languages.

FIFA has signaled it is likely to sell English- and Spanish-language US rights together rather than separately, which would likely push the price higher. For 2026, Fox paid $485M for English-language rights and NBCUniversal's Telemundo paid $600M for Spanish-language, per reports.

Amazon $AMZN and Apple $AAPL could also enter the mix, and discussions between FIFA and media companies are expected to begin within the next three months. FIFA has already awarded Netflix the Women's World Cup in 2027 and 2031.
