Will be leaving for Baku tomorrow Insha’Allah on a three day state visit to participate in the World Urban Forum.

It will be a singular honour to present Punjab’s flagship sustainable urban affordable housing initiative, “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar,” at the Pakistan Pavilion at the World Urban Forum in Baku.

Alhamdulillah, out of 160,000 houses under construction, 100,000 have been completed with families moving into their own new homes in less than a year Alhamdulillah.

The Pakistan Pavilion will showcase a case study, Punjab’s people centric model of inclusive urban development, affordable housing, and sustainable communities for low-income families.

During the visit, I will also have the honour of meeting the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and partnerships in urban development, climate resilience, tourism, and investment.

Press Release - Arrival of the US delegation for Islamabad Talks:

A high-powered US delegation led by US Vice President H.E. J.D. Vance along with Special Envoy Mr. Steve Witkoff and Mr. Jared Kushner arrived in Islamabad today to participate in Islamabad Talks.

The US delegation was received by Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi upon arrival.

Welcoming the US Vice President, the DPM/FM commended US commitment to achieving lasting regional and global peace and stability. DPM/FM expressed the hope that parties would engage constructively, and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to continue facilitating the parties towards reaching lasting and durable solution to the conflict.

Diplomatic efforts for peaceful settlement of the ongoing war in the Middle East are progressing steadily, strongly and powerfully with the potential to lead to substantive results in near future. To allow diplomacy to run its course, I earnestly request President Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks. Pakistan, in all sincerity, requests the Iranian brothers to open Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks as a goodwill gesture. We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region.

I warmly welcome the sagacious gesture and extend deepest gratitude to the leadership of both the countries and invite their delegations to Islamabad on Friday, 10th April 2026, to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes.
Both parties have displayed remarkable wisdom and understanding and have remained constructively engaged in furthering the cause of peace and stability. We earnestly hope, that the ‘Islamabad Talks’ succeed in achieving sustainable peace and wish to share more good news in coming days!

I spoke with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam of Lebanon, this evening.

I strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing aggression against Lebanon and offered condolences over the loss of thousands of precious lives in Lebanon as a result of these hostilities.

I reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advance peace efforts, including facilitating dialogue through the upcoming Iran–U.S. talks in Islamabad.

Grateful to Prime Minister Nawaf Salam who expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s peace efforts and underscored the need for our continued support in securing an immediate end to the attacks targeting Lebanon and its people.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), COAS & CDF called on the Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s Office.

The dignitaries reviewed the progress of Pakistan’s mediatory efforts to achieve sustainable peace in the region. The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the de-escalation achieved so far and stressed upon the need for maintaining peace and ceasefire by all parties. The leadership appreciated the restraint demonstrated by all sides and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to facilitate and provide all out support to both the sides to arrive at a peacefully negotiated settlement.

The PM lauded the commitment of the parties involved in the process and wished them success in their pursuit of peace. He also renewed his invitation to the arriving delegations and assured them of the highest consideration and support by Pakistan.
