These little seedlings in the greenhouse are hot but they have got plenty of water in the trays to last them over the weekend and are waiting to be planted up by our budding gardeners in the next gardening sessions @MonksdownSchool@MonksdownSTEM#monksdowngarden

We have been celebrating @ScienceWeekUK at Monksdown by completing activities that show 'connections' in science. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of what our children have been doing this week. #BSW23
Today we went out exploring our wintery surroundings. We found a frozen spiders web, frosty fencing and crunchy ice all over the grass. We had to wrap up warm and be careful not to slip and fall. @MonksdownSTEM
We have been reading The Lion inside: today we used Lego and different blocks to build our own “mighty flat rock” and “tinyful house” @MonksdownReads @MonksdownSTEM
@MonksdownSchool@MonksdownSTEM Food Lab Clubs have been learning about water transportation within the structure of plants. How interesting to see the many channels of water moving around one leaf of Chinese Cabbage. Our budding scientists dyed the water to make it visible. 🥬
This term we have been looking at life cycles. Last week ten tiny caterpillars arrived in The Hive, and we have been watching them grow. Over the weekend they formed their chrysalises and we were lucky enough to capture it on camera. Now we have to wait….@MonksdownSTEM
@MonksdownSTEM In the Hive we have been learning about “growth”. We read Jasper’s Beanstalk and talking about what we need to grow plants. Then we used what we had learnt to plant our own seeds.
