@energygovuk @Ed_Miliband The answer to help people is easy and simple. Have a fuel price cap just like the energy price cap. Helps everyone in rural and urban areas but of course @bp_plc and @Shell won't like it as it will curb profiteering. That's not a reason to not do it. Be quick though.

@MonmouthshireCC Here's a thought. What about ward councillors surveying their ward to see what matters in that locality and see what needs changing. This survey seems to bypass councillors ergo you must feel that they are not competent enough to have the pulse of their communities.

The problem is that at the Councillor level they are not that good at making this look like anything other than incompetence.

@mgshanks So what? The problem here is culture. Denmark and Holland might ask what's in it for our country. Here in the UK it's about what's in it for me - and politicians lead in that I'm afraid

Isn't that almost an oxymoron? There's loads they could do to help local people and businesses. Eg @PowysCC allow cheap motorhome stops that bring tourists into towns. @MonmouthshireCC actively discourage it. An hour of free parking would help to.

@MonmouthshireCC I would have thought that not building on flood plains would be an obvious answer which has inevitable consequences. Take Watery Lane in Monmouth. The clue is in the name.
