Very warm and humid today. Showers and isolated storms this morning across WNY will diminish this afternoon, with coverage of showers and storms increasing across the Finger Lakes and eastern Lake Ontario region this afternoon. A few storms may contain gusty winds and downpours.
Humid conditions with t-storms around will remain with us through Friday. Some thunderstorms may become severe with strong winds and heavy rain. A cold front sweeps through late Friday, starting the weekend off nice for Saturday with much less humidity.
Thank you to @NWSBUFFALO Warning Coordination Meteorologist Shane Kearns for a great discussion with our @MonroeCountyOEM Staff and Summer Interns on the importance of the relationship and communication between @NWS before, during, and after weather related emergencies.
The greatest potential for strong to severe thunderstorms will be this afternoon through early evening. Damaging wind gusts, hail, and locally heavy rain are the main threats. #nywx
A batch of showers will pass through the area late tonight into early Saturday morning. Additional showers and thunderstorms are then expected to develop Saturday afternoon with an elevated threat for severe weather, particularly from the Southern Tier to the Finger Lakes region.
Thanks to all who supported our Ginna Radiological Emergency practice exercise @MonroeCC. Simulated decontamination of busses from Webster School District by @Henrietta_Fire was impressive and effective! Thank you to our evaluators @femaregion2@NYSDHSES and partners.

Wet & cool start for the Memorial Day weekend. Some showers linger on Sunday but improving conditions by Monday and turning warmer. As it turns warmer, it may be tempting to jump into the lakes around the area but the water temperatures are still quit cold. Be safe! #USCG
The final topic for National Safe Boating Week is Thunderstorm Safety. Thunderstorms can bring gusty winds, lightning, waterspouts and create dangerous wave conditions. #NationalSafeBoatingWeek

Temperatures will fall to the mid and upper 30s well inland from the lakes across the Southern Tier and the North Country tonight. Elsewhere, expect temperatures mainly in the low 40s. A Frost Advisory is in effect for Allegany, Jefferson and Lewis counties tonight.
Even with warm air temperatures, the lake can be cold. Wear appropriate protective gear and clothing. Consider postponing small craft boating activities until the water temperatures are higher. #NationalSafeBoatingWeek
