NBA sources believe Jaylen Brown thinks he’s the smartest person in the room, per @colincowherd
“I had two NBA sources … two people in the league, one an executive, one a scout, say that Jaylen Brown has — it’s a disease. He suddenly thinks he’s the smartest guy in every room he’s in … You make a lot of money, suddenly you’re absolutely sure, you don’t wanna listen to your bosses, you don’t wanna listen to consultants, you don’t wanna listen to teammates.”

Most important factor for them will be Giannis health in April and beyond. They need shooting, additional ball handling no doubt but they probably aren’t as far away as the consensus thinks
The Miami roster is pretty barebones right now but I wouldn’t bet against them becoming a contender. Its more season-to-season than it ever has been. Pacers, Heat (2x) and Hawks all either made the Finals or ECF this decade during seasons no one expected them to contend
Enough with these uninformed takes man. 8 unique champions the last 8 years, clear proof there are many different ways to build a contender (financially and stylistically on the floor). Brunson’s deal was a major anomaly, don’t expect that to be the norm.
Spurs are said to be closing in on a 5-year $251M+ rookie max extension for Wembanyama (up to $300+ million with incentives).
It’ll be fascinating to see if Wemby takes a page from Jalen Brunson. In 2024, Brunson left about $113M on the table when he signed his 4-year $156.5M extension. That cap flexibility helped the Knicks keep their core intact and win the 2026 title.
Ultimately though Spurs collective inexperience at this level cost them, from the players to the coaching. Understandable though you gotta go through it in the NBA
Knicks earned that one man one of the best runs youll ever see 🫡 All that talk doomsday talk about the NBA for it to be one of the best seasons in a while
The full picture of how NIL reshaped the NBA Draft.
Early-entry numbers climbed from 2016-2021, peaking at 363 when COVID forced seniors to declare to keep draft eligibility.
Alston hit in June 2021, kickstarting the NIL era. Five years later: 71.
I am rapidly coming to believe the European soccer transfer model should be adapted for NCAA D1 hoops. Mid- and low majors have to get some kind of compensation when they lose half of their teams to the portal in two weeks:
