This was one of my biggest hopes going into 2023.

@BuildWithGrove actively pushed for activating the burn even if it ate away at our runway and treasury. We needed to see the flywheel in motion.

Why?

It forced gateway business like Grove to figure out the the feasibility of the demand-side of the business, just as token mint-rate (and inflation) has forced node runners to figure out the long-term viability of the supply-side of the business.

Doing it in the midst of the bear market, with all of the additional headwinds, acted as a forcing function to give Grove the baseline we needed to position the business so that we can be successful. It's also helped the @POKTnetwork Foundation understand what it takes to spin up more gateways. The network is now at two gateways, with more in the works for next year.

We really believe in what we're doing here and we have more ideas in the works on how to succeed as a business and how to make the POKT network protocol an undeniable part of web infrastructure.
