I met Gerry some 20 years ago through a mutual friend, Bill Gould. He was a beautiful soul and a testament that many great men of letters are outside of conventional academia. Fond memories of drinks at the U Club of NY discussing the permanent things. RIP.

Seeger and Welsh (two draft exemption cases) are often trotted out for that topic and could prompt a good discussion, though their discussion of the problem is a little...imprecise.
