Furthermore, if marks went away, I believe students would take more chances. These systems of quantifying and ranking learning incentivize playing it safe, but we all learn more by taking risks. #OntEd.
WOMEN'S PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL IS COMING TO TORONTO! 🤯🔥

Great article @ALPAPilots with an ex. of how advancements in technology (i.e., CGMs connected to personal devices) impact the lives of ppl with diabetes & improve quality of life. When diagnosed, ppl often given tools to survive, not live fully/thrive.

So many examples from parents in this thread that highlights how poor policy, underfunded schools and staff shortages impact the LIVES of students in our schools.
Don't be distracted by another poor policy (see #2019phoneban) attempt by the #ONPC, they are not investing in Edu.
“'This is about restoring focus during instructional time,' Lecce said.”
Hey, @sflecce, know what's making it difficult to focus in class? The teacher shortage, rising violence, and a mental health crisis. Maybe try doing something about them? #onted

Absolutely a distraction from more serious issues.
I’ve said before, Minister Lecce gets periodically very worked up about cellphones. It’s the safest, least costly issue he can tackle, and makes for good soundbites. #Onted
The ableism in the comments is mind-blowing! Phones = medical devices for ppl with various forms of diabetes. Ppl with diabetes, who are also students and teachers, have a right to exist in schools with the supports to manage & make decisions that impact their health.
Other than boards having to block social media on their networks, which many were already doing and kids get around with VPNs, this is the same “ban” as in 2019. #OntEd
"As adults, only 3 percent of Americans stay in shape by playing team sports, which means our reliance on structured, heavily coached scenarios hardly prepares kids for a future of physical activity that will demand that they be self motivating and workout alone." (Bill Sands)
I have started to let many of my older high school athletes write their own strength training programs...I think it's time empower kids by teaching them how take care of their own fitness for the rest of their lives rather than to rely on someone else. If their capable of learning geometry, reading Shakespeare or go off to war they should be able to comprehend pushing vs pulling, squatting vs hinge, Aerobic vs Anaerobic, grinds vs ballistics, basic idea behind volume/intensity sets and reps like 5x5 8x3 20x1 etc. I know this doesn't go over well with many strength coaches' spreadsheets, but the reality is in the very near future, most of the kids i train are going to become ex-athletes. I would very much like them to walk away from sports training with the knowledge to keep their bodies strong and resilient for the rest of their lives...

I often get asked the question: How do I do youth athletic development training without all the fancy equipment you have in your gym???
Truth is, you don't need fancy equipment. Some open space, maybe a few balls, foam noodles, or cones, and you got all the tools needed to develop general athletic skills.
In fact, most of my remote training programs use very little equipment.
Shoutout to COVID days... where we moved the gym outside.
Looking to buy youth athletic development programs or courses??? DM me for details. #LTAD
I research women and far-right movements in the U.S. and Europe, including why women are increasingly likely to join and how their role has changed. This speech was a masterclass. 1/
It should come as no surprise to the Ford government that Ontario’s teacher recruitment and retention crisis is a mess of their own making.
Instead of taking responsibility for the crisis and engaging in meaningful consultation with teachers and education experts to strategize solutions, the government continues to avoid responsibility, underfund public education, jeopardize quality learning, and pursue its misguided #onpolipriorities.
