Remembering Disney’s visionary artist Mary Blair, who passed away 48 years ago today at the age of 66 🕊️

With her bold colors, whimsical shapes, and unmistakable modern style, Blair helped define the visual identity of some of Disney’s most beloved animated classics.

Her concept art and color styling influenced Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Dumbo, and Lady and the Tramp, while she also served as an art supervisor on Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros.

Her imagination extended far beyond animation. Blair helped design the iconic It’s a Small World attraction and created the massive Grand Canyon Concourse mural at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, ensuring that her colorful artistic vision would remain part of the Disney experience for generations.

Mary Blair passed away on July 26, 1978, but her influence continues to inspire animators, illustrators, designers, and Disney fans around the world.

Rest in peace, Mary Blair. Your beautiful world of color continues to live on ❤️
