Michael Morse #MichaelMorse#SFGiants music credit to A-ha with Take on Me, Michael's iconic walkup music. My 7 year old son goes nuts when he hears it on the radio, and I still do as well. @MrsMorse38@aha_com@aha_takeonme
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague Billy Bean, MLB’s Senior VP for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion and Special Assistant to the Commissioner. Billy, who fought a heroic year-long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, was 60.
Over the last 10 years, Billy worked passionately and tirelessly with MLB and all 30 Clubs, focusing on player education, LGBTQ inclusion, and social justice initiatives to advance equality in the game for all.
Billy’s 10-year playing career included six Major League seasons with the Tigers, Dodgers, and Padres.
Commissioner Rob Manfred called Billy “one of the kindest and most respected individuals I have ever known” and someone who “made Baseball a better institution, both on and off the field.”
Maybe it’s an irrational hope to think the Giants can be a postseason team. But what hopes worth having aren’t at least somewhat irrational? https://t.co/t8Ai4YvCDt
Incredibly tragic news.
Reyes Moronta has died tonight at the age of 31, according to multiple reports.
Moronta last pitched in MLB with the Angels last season.
He also spent 5 years with the Giants, and pitched for the Dodgers and Diamondbacks.
64 years ago I made my debut in MLB. Pitched a one hitter. Giants against Phillies. We won 2-0. My first complete game and the start of a dream come true.
Posey gave short recaps of what it was like to catch each pitcher. On Casilla: "I think about putting a sign down, him shaking seven times, and then agreeing to the first pitch that I had called originally."
I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania.
I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.
Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.
There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. Although we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all be relieved that former President Trump wasn’t seriously hurt, and use this moment to recommit ourselves to civility and respect in our politics. Michelle and I are wishing him a quick recovery.
Heliot Ramos wasn't even in the big leagues until May 8 but he's the first homegrown outfielder to make the All-Star team for the Giants since Chili Davis in 1986. He has been on a 36-homer, 123-RBI pace over the past two months.
