4/4 However, we now need to raise further funds for court fees, as our council (Isle of Anglesey County Council) in their wisdom have requested the courts to 'DOUBLE' our fees, citing that because we are a 'grassroots campaign' we can fundraise! It makes one question are they afraid we will win. If you able to spare a few pounds please donate to #SavePenrhos #AchubPenrhos #PoundforPenrhos #PuntamPenrhos https://t.co/tkN86o019z
3/4 We have been fighting hard against development of our ONLY woodland (PENRHOS NATURE RESERVE/PARK) here on Holy Island since 2011. This has been an extraordinarily long battle, campaigning for what we believe has been determined unjustly by our Local Authority.
*NOW THE GOOD NEWS*
After years of hard work, it has finally been approved by a Judge to bring our case against the Local Authority and the interested party Land & Lakes (Anglesey) to 'THE HIGH COURT OF JUSTICE' in CARDIFF on Tuesday 27th FEBRUARY 2024. #SavePenrhos #AchubPenrhos
2/4 Penrhos is a 200-acre coastal park in Holyhead, Anglesey/Ynys Môn, the only woodland we have on our island. The park has Grade II-listed historical buildings dating back to 1553. It was officially opened as a Nature Reserve in 1971.
In 2016, the Cumbria-based property development company Land & Lakes secured planning permission from Isle of Anglesey County Council for a £120mn ‘world-class leisure village’ there. The plans entail 500 cabins, shops, restaurants, bars, and a tropical swimming pool #SavePenrhos #AchubPenrhos
For those who are new to the Penrhos nature reserve campaign, this article in @BylinesCymru written by @twittyhilster will explain the history of penrhos up to the present day fight https://t.co/6ENvoOVwtR
@Tesco I bought this half an hour ago in Holyhead store. Having unwrapped it, the cheese is clearly off by appearance & smell. BB 2/1/24. Very disappointing & I shall not be travelling 6 miles back to return as the smell has already filled my house, don't want it in my car too.
