@brittain53367 @ImWatson91@BBCScotlandNews โBacked up by dataโ depending entirely on the study you read (some of which suggest public opinion is in favour of gender-neutral options, particularly amongst younger generations). But ok.
@Polly67890 Iโve had two and they were fine. This is not a sex thing, this is a โpersonal level of discomfortโ thing. The physical exam by my (female) GP was way worse lmao.
@Heather_pw @MunozSaiz @janeclarejones Being led into the dichotomy that same sex == safe, opp sex == unsafe obscures the complex realities of mistreatment. Have often had worse experiences with female doctors (rougher exams!) but would not blame their sex. Important to share pos experience for balance + reducing fear
@Heather_pw @MunozSaiz @janeclarejones I think that a lot of the scaremongering that we have seen in recent days certainly doesnโt help re: fear. Am of the mind that actions to diminish rape culture (& offering female option or chaperone eg for survivors, religious req) is more productive
@Heather_pw @MunozSaiz @janeclarejones My mammograms were part of the breast cancer scare mentioned. (also physical exams, biopsies & MRIs). I am extremely familiar with the process. I am saying that we ought to be able to place professional trust in doctors regardless of sex & this is borne out by personal experience
furore over male HCWs is the latest step in an insane, regressive attempt to further segregate society by sex. I have had male gynos, male consultants examining me during a breast cancer scare in 2023-4. was fine & I hate how the narrative is โALL women hate thisโ
colleagues were shocked when I said I donโt use chatGPT for my code, wait til they find out that my ocd means I canโt even copy & paste anything
truly, this is hell
@historykev A lot of the discussion around this bill has focused on the safeguarding (good) but decided the logical consequence of that is to quash it in entirety (bad). This is largely pro-life rhetoric cloaked in faux concern for disabled people. Infantilising to suggest we cannot choose.
@historykev There are a couple of safeguarding issues with the bill which I have raised with my MP but broadly speaking, yes. If you have not lived it, you wonโt get it. You are more committed to some ephemeral idea of life than autonomy & preventing suffering. Suicide is not inherently bad.
