LGI TALKS this month featured questions from language learners all across our different language communities. We had language enthusiasts discuss them and profer real life solutions based on their experiences and expertise in the language field. This is a must listen for all.
@langlopact Continue:
- Use subtraction & addition method: "I want to eat rice." Subtract rice and add 'Pizza'. Subtract Pizza and add 'water'. Now you can't use eat again. So look for the verb 'drink'. Replace eat with drink. Now this is your new sentence: I want to drink water.
@langlopact Which language skill is more difficult?
Ans: Speaking - Reasons are because it takes a lot of motivation to speak. So what do you do to improve it? - Repetitive practice, listen to audio recordings and dialogues in the level you are in and say them out loudly.
@langlopact Continue:
Record yourself, play and compare pronunciations. When you feel confident enough, maybe after a week practice, use such expressions with friends, colleagues, or other learners.
Have life-saving phrases like "Please speak slowly, please repeat, I don't understand,..."
@langlopact Stories carry cultural elements. How can you explain "snow" to a child who is learning a foreign language when the child has not seen or heard of snow before?
If you can narrate a story. The learner would be able to understand that snow is cold, white, falls from the sky, ice...

@langlopact Thanks for these tips. For me, my summers are mostly for travel, language & relaxation. I volunteer on the go.
What are your summers for?🤗
What will you be doing for the long holidays?
How will you keep your children and younger ones busy?
We have some ideas. Here goes!
