Nigeria’s federal government has signed a $9 million, one-year lobbying contract with DCI Group, a US-based firm with Republican links, including advisor Roger Stone, a close ally of former US President Donald Trump.

The deal was arranged by Aster Legal on behalf of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and filed under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

Under the contract, DCI Group is tasked with promoting a narrative of the Nigerian government’s protection of Christian communities, while also seeking to maintain US support for countering jihadist groups like Boko Haram and ISIS affiliates.

Nine staff, including Justin Peterson and Doug Davenport, are assigned to manage the campaign.

Observers describe the agreement as a high-profile propaganda effort, aimed at shaping international perception and influencing US policymakers, rather than addressing the root causes of insecurity.

At $750,000 per month, it is reportedly one of the largest lobbying contracts ever secured by an African country in Washington.

The deal comes amid rising scrutiny of attacks on Christians in Nigeria and exposes the government’s continued failure to protect vulnerable communities at home.
