2024 has left the building.
Happy new year to my weird, wonderful listeners. Here is a new song - now available on Bandcamp - and there will be more...

✨Please give me some song recommendations ✨
Any genre, any language, any country, any year.
As long as it makes you feel something, and you don't think I'll have heard it.
@modedistract Until Spotify provides horribly intrusive data about each listener, we can only assume.
Plus, it would be cool. On a horse, galloping across the grassy steppe, earbuds in, music on.
What would be the best/most accessible way to let people preview the (many) demos I'm working on? 🤔
A mix? A livestream? A Soundcloud dump of works-in-progress?
There's a relevant bit from @nardwuar's recent interview with @fredagainagain1@brianeno created the Windows 95 start-up sound, and after making 5-second compositions for months, found returning to longer pieces like having "oceans of time" to play with

What's the perfect length for a song?
Some claim 2 minutes 42 seconds, and that anything else is a waste.
But surely a song should last as long as it lasts to make itself heard? I know tracks under 2 minutes that feel like epics, and 16-minute songs where every second counts.
@odellandy That's some impressive commitment to a self-imposed constraint.
Like a painter working only on 10x10cm canvases.
I'll have to give the album a listen.
RIP Ka, rap's greatest minimalist, Brownsville's finest, inimitably dedicated himself to his city & craft. The master of quiet rage, writing zen koans with unremitting soul & passion. Pain, grief & wisdom in every bar. An artist as pure & real as anyone who ever spit cold facts.
Reminder for other music makers: back-up your work 🔐
I lost a song I'd poured days into all because I didn't have a good back-up process and my tech threw a wobbly.
Auto-save, cloud storage, back-up HDs are friends. To butcher an idiom: make saves while the sun shines ☀️
