The MPA Awards showcase the leadership and contributions of brilliant artists, determined lawmakers, and key partners who understand the impact and importance of great stories – and the people who tell them. I can’t wait to host these leaders at the @motionpictures global HQ to recognize their achievements.
A new ruling from the Paris Judicial Court sends a clear message: unauthorized password-selling schemes are not legitimate subscription-sharing services.
The court found that Spliiit facilitated the unauthorized sharing of streaming service credentials, validating concerns raised by ACE members Apple, Disney, and Netflix. The decision reinforces an important distinction between personal password sharing platforms that profit from selling access to subscription accounts.
Credential abuse doesn't just impact streaming platforms. It undermines the legal marketplace, exploits creative works, and creates risks for consumers who may be misled about the legality of these services.
ACE remains focused on protecting consumers, supporting legitimate content services, and safeguarding the millions of jobs that depend on a thriving creative economy.

Washington D.C. is our nation’s capital – and just like the rest of America, local film production translates into more jobs, bigger paychecks, and higher growth for the District’s workers, vendors, and businesses.
When studios, casts, and crews set their scenes in D.C., their investments deliver $1.15 billion in wages and tens of thousands of jobs to residents and communities, all while tapping into locations and landmarks recognized the world over. There are few better ways to spur D.C.’s prosperity, and no better way to tell our country’s stories.

Met with U.S. streaming firms who stressed @CRTCeng's Online Streaming tax will drive away investment and job creation in Canada’s creative sector. This unfair tax will drive up costs for Canadian consumers and targets U.S. companies. This law should be immediately repealed.
Congratulations to our President & Managing Director Michele Austin on being named to @THR's Most Powerful Women in Canadian Entertainment 2026!
A huge shoutout to all the incredible women recognized alongside her. You are all shaping the future of Canada's screen industry. 👏

If you want to talk entertainment, innovation, and the state and future of filmmaking in our industry’s hometown, check in with @reptedlieu . He is a champion of what it takes to bring production to SoCal, why the Golden State’s expanded incentive program matters, what we have to do to crack down on piracy, and how to keep California a competitive place for creators to bring great stories to life.

For 250 years, our heroes in uniform have given their lives to preserve America’s promise and protect the American people. Film and TV help tell their stories—a lens through which we lift up their legacies and pay tribute to their service.
On Memorial Day, and every day, we say thank you to the members of our military who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe, strong, and free.
The @motionpictures (MPA) applauds an order from the High Court of Justice in the United Kingdom that streamlines the process for blocking access to proven piracy services when they switch names or website domains to evade court orders.
The court’s “omnibus” order marks a practical advance in the fight against digital piracy as the online piracy ecosystem becomes more automated and increasingly agile. For instance, AI tools are increasingly used to generate domains, websites, and evasive infrastructure at scale.

Senator @MikeCrapo knows the awe-inspiring beauty of Idaho better than anybody — from fly fishing in the Big Wood and Snake Rivers to appreciating the remarkable landscape spanning his state.
He also knows the vital importance of free trade and IP protection to the strength of the U.S. film and TV industry and local economies in Idaho and nationwide. Great to speak with him about how a national film incentive would bolster America’s production ecosystem and creative marketplace.

We recently joined @Disney and @20thcentury to screen “The Devil Wears Prada 2” for members of the cast and crew in the Big Apple and highlight what this production brought to local communities: nearly $68 million in economic activity and over 1,400 jobs. Now that really is groundbreaking.
Thanks to our partners from @EmpireStateDev, the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, the New York State Executive Chamber, Senate, and Assembly, and the New York City Council who joined us as well.

“Fair market access is essential to maintaining a strong film and television industry. Canada and its audiences are important to our member studios and the broader industry. However, Canada’s Online Streaming Act disadvantages American companies and undermines competitiveness by requiring streaming companies to subsidize and promote Canadian content over their own productions through discriminatory obligations that Canadian broadcasters do not face. We applaud Rep. Smucker’s commitment to addressing this unfair trade practice that’s impacting film and television production in America.” - @CharlieRivkin MPA Chairman & CEO
Canada is doubling down on discriminatory regulations targeting American streaming services and digital creators.
A top Canadian regulator confirmed new rules implementing Canada's discriminatory Online Streaming Act are coming soon.
That’s why I introduced the Protecting American Streaming and Innovation Act to authorize a Section 301 investigation into these harmful policies, and I will keep fighting to defend free expression, innovation, and American jobs.
