@VasilisLerikos This isn’t a Ravens specific problem, the draft generally bottoms out somewhere in the 5th round every year.
As someone who has been a draft nerd for 25+ years, these late picks should be used for specialists or trade up capital. And if you have to pick, target traits.
@agraybee It’s because they gave his campaign money and aren’t getting it back. Or at least invested emotionally, sold him to all their friends, and don’t want to seem dumb now.
Rationalization is a hell of a drug.
@ColeJacksonFB While I love Higgins and wish he was on the 53, there is no way he is more valuable than Ali. Higgins would be inactive most weeks. Ali is a core special teamer, starting KR, and can play mop up RB in blowouts instead of Hill.
@ColeJacksonFB Cole, agree that Higgins outplayed Buchanan. They won’t cut Buchanan because he was a 4th round pick, which isn’t purely about the draft investment, so much as what it entails, TB’s ceiling is higher than Higgins due to athleticism. Higgins roster spot went to UDFAs like Lowery
@ColeJacksonFB@RavensAllDay87 Rasul Douglas is still available too. There are enough choices that Ravens probably won’t sign one until after May 1 when it doesn’t affect comp picks and they see how the draft went.

@jeffzrebiec@nitingoel I only subscribe to The Athletic for your Ravens coverage. Lots of other stuff that comes with the subscription is great, but without you it doesn’t work for me and, I suspect, a lot of Baltimore sports fans too.
@jeffzrebiec Maybe - Dallas just started interviewing and I though Roman an obvious fit if DAL was interested. Rhule (NYG) + McDaniels (Cle) leading candidates but things can change. Carolina the big question mark.
@jeffzrebiec Agree that’s not what they wanted but my suspicion is Hurst was always the backup plan. I’d prefer Hurst to be the swing tackle too, but Eluemunor had his issues and Powers/Mekari don’t look ready.
@C_Stroop @mme_hardy Marsh died on its own accord, a parable of bad business mgmt, not societal decline. https://t.co/9iVQDkMjvc I will give you that economic viability of certain strip malls is questionable as Indy-area residents move either increasingly downtown or further away north suburbs/exurbs
@jeffzrebiec@_MARQUI718_ That’s ok, Ravens have Derwin James and Myles Jack to fill in as starters for Weddle and Mosley*
*This tweet comes from the alternate universe where the Ravens actually take the consensus BPA.
@NateSilver538@baseballot Can confirm as someone with Shelter Island, NY as his Twitter wallpaper, we got Hartford, CT local news in the 80s before cable TV.
@jeffzrebiec@Bij_Sadoughi Ironically the faster Harbaugh realizes the season is over the more likely he is to save his job.
As in Harbs would do better to prove he can win with Lamar than stubbornly trudge to 9-7 or 8-8 with Flacco. Plus Lamar’s mobility would boost run game and mask oline deficiencies.
@jeffzrebiec@afahrni2 It’s easy to go after any team for draft misfires, they all have them. But we have to start asking if the whole strategy is flawed. They execute their plan well in terms of maximizing picks, I’m just not sure there is any evidence it is a plan that leads to playoff success.
@jeffzrebiec@afahrni2 Not directed at you Jeff, you’re the best. FO needs to answer Qs about strategy sometime. Balt & GB horde comp picks yet both have weaker rosters. Balt’s change in draft strategy toward maximizing picks seemingly correlates w/ decline in pro bowlers & increase in 8-8 finishes.
