Statistical anomaly. Nerd. Firm believer in the power of common sense. Standing on the shoulders of giants. Everything is a battle between fate and chance.
A day will come When Kenyans won’t rely on Judiciary to recover stolen taxes. Poor Kenyans are dying because the government has totally been unable to give them affordable healthcare. Innocent children are dropping out of school because of lack of funds
I passed by the billboard at university way which is filled with plastic containers collected around the city and this is one of the most brilliant concepts I've seen in a long time, so moving i almost cried. It has filled up pretty fast though, says a lot about Nairobi
I don’t really share my personal life here. But tonight this caught me so off guard I felt I needed to.
My best friend recently had his second child. It was a harrowing birth that I won’t go into.
But he sent me a message today saying his parents bought a paper on that day as a keepsake. That paper turned out to be @Telegraph - on the day of one of my front pages.
I felt blindsided to hear this (in a good way!). I was his best man at his wedding and gave the speech. We grew up together in a tiny village in Sussex and did everything together. We have been mates for more than 20 years and have been through loads. He’s one of the few people I would trust with my life.
Having such a connection to the birth of his second child, in such an unbelievable way, blew my mind.
I’m so proud of my mate, who has grown into an incredible husband and father.
The coincidence is incredible; two lads from the same village, connected in such a way - it’s lottery ticket-style luck.
Welcome to the world, Ruby.
Thank you for joining us earlier this week on #MwangoSpaces for our discussion on the Finance Act 2026, featuring Ann Magondu (Deloitte), Joyce Oriedi (PwC Kenya), and Akinyi Gikonyo (Kenya Association of Manufacturers).

A few key takeaways:
— The Finance Act 2026 introduces significant changes to Kenya's tax regime, including new withholding tax rules, amendments to VAT and excise duty, and measures targeting cross-border transactions and the digital economy.
— Merchant service and interchange fees are now subject to withholding tax, while payment processing services lose their VAT exemption, increasing compliance requirements and potentially raising the cost of digital payments.
— New rules on indirect transfers of Kenyan assets and higher withholding tax on dividends paid to EAC investors could influence how foreign investors, private equity firms, and regional investors structure investments into Kenya.
— The Act also revises VAT refund rules, introduces targeted VAT relief for selected sectors, removes excise duty on bottled water, and adjusts excise rates on products such as juices, tobacco, alcohol, and imported sugar.
— While several contentious proposals were dropped following public participation, the panel noted that the Act continues to prioritise revenue mobilisation, with businesses expected to navigate a more compliance-focused tax environment.
IEBC does not have the capacity to conduct a free and fair general election in 2027. The past by-elections have proven that. Open bribery and goonism from the president's party UDA have been met with silence by the electoral body.
