African grey parrots belong in the wild, not in cages and homes.
These remarkably intelligent birds spend their lives flying with their flocks, communicating, and raising their young in the wild. Yet many are still taken from their natural habitats to supply the pet trade.
Wild animals are not pets.

A reminder of what wildlife trafficking takes away.
Behind every trafficked pangolin is a wild animal that should have been roaming forests, not ending up in the illegal wildlife trade.
Pangolins are the world's most trafficked wild mammals. They are killed for their scales and meat, despite there being no scientific evidence that their scales have medicinal value.
Wild animals are worth more alive than trafficked.
Every pangolin deserves a future in the wild.

The future of food isn't about producing more at any cost.
It's about producing food in ways that respect animals, support farmers, and protect our planet.
More humane farming.
Less factory farming.

Some moments only happen in the wild.
A mother teaching her cub.
A new generation finding its place.
Let's protect the places wildlife calls home.
π Keep them wild.

Every animal deserves a life worth living.
Factory farming confines billions of sentient animals in systems that restrict natural behaviours and compromise their welfare.
A just food transition means creating food systems that are equitable, humane, and sustainable, for animals, people, and the planet.

A just food transition means creating food systems that are equitable, humane, and sustainable, where the welfare of animals is part of the solution for people and the planet.

π¦ There is something timeless about a lion in the wild.
No fences. No performances. No exploitation.
Just a wild animal living the life it was meant to live.
π Wildlife belongs in the wild.

π¦ MYTH OR FACT?
β Pangolin scales have medicinal properties.
β False. Pangolin scales are made of keratin, the same material found in human hair and fingernails. There is no scientific evidence that they can treat or cure diseases.
Yet demand for their scales continues to fuel the illegal wildlife trade, making pangolins the world's most trafficked wild mammal.
Share this fact and help stop the spread of myths that harm wildlife.

This World Crocodile Day, help us raise awareness of the threats crocodiles face worldwide, including habitat loss, human-crocodile conflict, and exploitation for their body parts and for use in tourist attractions.
In Kenya alone, more than 177 crocodiles are held in cramped pens, raised for their skins and meat, with countless others being kept in captivity for the entertainment of tourists.
So, how can you help crocodiles? Be an ethical tourist, avoid captive wildlife entertainment on your itinerary, and sign our petition to urge the government of Kenya to strengthen animal protection and conservation laws.
Crocodiles belong in wild. Share this message this World Crocodile Day.

For more than 100 million years, sea turtles have roamed our oceans.
Today, many species face threats from plastic pollution, fishing gear entanglement, habitat loss, wildlife trade, and unsustainable development.
Protecting sea turtles means protecting the oceans that support wildlife, people, and coastal communities.
π¬ Have you ever seen a sea turtle in the wild?

Jono and Unyil are two macaques rescued from Indonesia's last dancing monkey camp, here they are taking their first steps back into the wild after suffering for years.
These beautiful macaques were forced to perform on streets and chained in dark boxes. They underwent intensive rehabilitation and were successfully released into a protected, natural habitat in Indonesia.
Since 2024, World Animal Protection has partnered with the Jakarta Animal Aid Network, supporting an intensive rehabilitation programme, helping 31 rescued macaques.
These macaques relearned how to forage, build strength, and reconnect with their social groups under close watch.
Now a dedicated team is tracking their progress as they roam further across their new home, the Indonesian island of Nasu Burang, bringing them closer to a free, wild life.

π¦ WILD WINS | Positive wildlife stories from around the world
For years, conservationists feared mountain bongos had disappeared from Kenya's Maasai Mau Forest.
Then the cameras captured something remarkable.
Three critically endangered mountain bongos moving through the forest, offering fresh hope for one of Africa's rarest antelopes.
Found only in Kenya, mountain bongos have faced severe population declines due to habitat loss, poaching, and other human pressures. Today, they remain one of the world's most endangered antelope species.
This sighting is a reminder that protection and conservation works. When habitats are protected and wildlife is given space to recover, nature can surprise us.
Every conservation success story starts with protecting the places animals call home.

Food systems are about more than what we produce. They are about how we produce it, who benefits, and what kind of future we are building.
As conversations continue at the World Farmers' Organisation Annual Meeting, we believe smallholder farmers, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability must all be part of the discussion.
A Just Food Transition should support farmer livelihoods, strengthen communities, promote animal welfare, and protect the natural resources that food production depends on.
Because the future of food must work for farmers, animals, people, and the planet.

At the World Farmers' Organisation Annual Meeting, we have had the opportunity to discuss key issues affecting Kenya's agricultural sector and exchange perspectives on sustainable food systems, agroecology, and animal welfare.
We are pleased to have engaged with Hon. Dr. John Mutunga, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and Member of Parliament, on these important issues.
Dialogue between policymakers and stakeholders is critical to advancing food systems that work for farmers, communities, animals, and the environment.

One of the highlights of our participation at the World Farmers' Organisation Annual Meeting was the visit by Hon. Mutahi Kagwe, Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development.
The Cabinet Secretary stopped by our booth to engage with the World Animal Protection and @BIBA_Kenya teams and learn more about our work promoting agroecology, animal welfare, and equitable, humane, and sustainable food systems.
His interest in these issues reflects the growing importance of conversations around the future of agriculture, food systems transformation, and sustainable development in Kenya and across Africa.
Through the booth, we are showcasing how animal welfare and agroecological approaches can contribute to resilient food systems that benefit farmers, communities, animals, and the environment.

Today, World Animal Protection and Biodiversity and Biosafety Association of Kenya @BIBA_Kenya are participating in the World Farmers' Organisation Annual Meeting, marking the first time this global event is being hosted in Africa.
The meeting brings together farmers, policymakers, researchers, and development partners to discuss the future of food and farming.
Throughout the event, we will be championing a Just Food Transition, agroecology, and the role of animal welfare in creating equitable, humane, and sustainable food systems across Africa.
We believe the future of food must work for farmers, communities, animals, and the environment.

Factory farming is not climate smart.
It is linked to animal suffering, biodiversity loss, pollution, public health risks, and growing pressure on communities and natural resources.
Africa's food future should support farmers, strengthen communities, and build resilient food systems.
