"The Ukrainian force defending that causeway was 15 people, which the Russians didn’t know. The Ukrainians dispersed across the village and started talking on their radios about where they were going to deploy the Javelin teams, and the Russians were listening to this communication, and stopped because they thought that there were 30 or so Javelin teams in front of them. There weren’t any." https://t.co/m8D6qJv4Jc
This is even better: “There was one Ukrainian air defence unit that found itself on the wrong side of the front lines and drove out of its base and actually ended up driving alongside a Russian column for a period of time, asking them for spare tires at one point, then drove across the front line, set up, and started to engage Russian aircraft.”
Footage from the scene of a suspected Russian air defense missile crash in the Moscow region.
I mean, Russian air defense is totally the best in the world, hard to argue.
🇰🇿👀 In Kazakhstan, a Russian couple was detained because of a "Z" T-shirt.
The Russian couple tried to defend themselves and explain their position, but no one listened to them and they were taken to the police station.
@bariweiss I think about this constantly. It is beyond shocking to me. The utter capitulation to it and the absolute abandonment of any principle. Sometimes I feel like a sucker who got conned by the shady salesman . I actually believed in a lot of what we were supposed to believe in
You see mining sector stocks under day-to-day pressure on geopolitical newsflow.
I see copper holding U$6/lb with consummate ease and a mining sector making more money than in its entire history.
We are not the same.
Applebaum: Military loss has often changed Russia. Russians tell themselves they never lose wars and won World War II.
Russia has lost many wars, and each loss hit hard. The shock comes when propaganda meets reality.

Once again, I find myself asking a rhetorical question: who among the country's serious, talented, professional -- and above all incorruptible managers -- would agree to take on the burden of running Ukraine's Defense Ministry during a gigantic war, knowing that six months after being appointed, someone will whisper in Zelensky's ear again and they'll be fired before having the chance to accomplish anything?
Once again, I get the impression that the people on Bankova Street, amid all the recent successes, have slipped back into a toxic sense of euphoria and are once again beginning to lose their footing.
Just as with the attempt to strip the anti-corruption agencies of their independence, they seem to have relaxed and decided they can pull this kind of shit because the country is at war and civil society will swallow it.
I can’t tell you how many stories like that I’ve heard from Ukrainians since 2022, not just now.
The usual thing for a Ukrainian child to hear at school is “I hope your dad dies at war”. Who taught kids that?
Ukrainians have been shy to report it. But it’s been massive for years
You know what the real tragedy is? The people dying to defend Ukraine are the very best of us, literally the flower of the nation. Meanwhile, in russia…
The Russian and Belarusian campaign promoting migration packages from African and Middle Eastern countries to Europe continues on TikTok.
Both countries are weaponizing migration against the EU while giving false hope to people in these countries.
