Actor Tim Allen shared about Erika Kirk's public forgiveness of the man accused of killing her husband, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, inspired him to finally forgive the drunk driver who killed his own father over 60 years ago.

Allen wrote that hearing Erika Kirk say, "That man… that young man… I forgive him," deeply affected him. He added:

This is the George Burns a lot of people still see when they close their eyes: older, round glasses, that little half-smile, and the cigar in his mouth like it had always been part of him.
He lived to 100. He won an Oscar at 80. He kept working, kept joking, kept lighting up. But the thing he never got over was Gracie. They married in 1926. She died in 1964. He never remarried. Once a month he went to Forest Lawn, put a flower on her grave, and talked to her. He told her the jokes. He told her how the show went. He said it made him feel good that she was still listening.
He would say that he had “one joke for forty years”. It meant: for most of his career, he didn’t have to be the funny one. Gracie was the act. He just stood beside her, fed her lines, and let her get the laughs. When she died, that partnership was gone. After that, the cigar became the thing he paused with, the way he used to pause for her. He even wanted a few cigars buried with him, so he wouldn’t be without them when he finally caught up with her.
