Some exciting research out of Univ. of Michigan looking at VR + meditation for pain control. Great opportunity to use #GeoPain as a consistent measure for capturing sensitivity and progress.
@morrisdustin07 Hi @morrisdustin07! We're hard at work on a new release that will be available on Android/iOS in the next couple of weeks. (details: https://t.co/isBduGgd7S) If you are feeling brave and want to join our beta program, let me know.
Being a #ChronicPainPatient gives you an entirely new perspective on life. Everyday tasks become increasingly difficult and the days only get longer. It's important that doctors, friends, and family are aware of this and actively try to check in on their loved ones.
This is why the 1-10 pain scale simply doesn't work. It allows for a high degree of subjectivity and variation in results. It's time to switch to a deeper analysis that involves digging into qualitative and quantitative metrics associated with #ChronicPain.
“When asked my pain level on a scale of 1 to 10 I ask, “My scale or yours?” On my scale I can be a 4 today but on a doctor’s…it’s probably closer to an 8… My body is in #pain all the time, I have to endure it and it changes my perceptions.” https://t.co/EsdI4atDSV #ChronicPain
The mental component of chronic pain is just so flustering and frustrating. You can be doing everything "right," making great progress, then whaBAM you wake up with the worst pain you've felt in months. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense but you still gotta keep at it.
“Although each of us have our own limitations, it’s all variations of the same constant analysis: needing to work out how much our pain will increase by doing one thing, while having to choose between others, sometimes even vital activities.” https://t.co/o2VwT3LRna #ChronicPain
I wrote this from the heart. And with the fire of chronic pain in my belly.
My open letter to anyone who has #endometriosis or thinks they have. And to anyone else trying to learn or support. 💪 ❤️
Please share if it helps.

This is the reason why the traditional #PainScale doesn't work. A number from 1-10 doesn't describe your pain effectively. #GeoPain instead believes in showing your varying degrees of pain through brief descriptions and 3D models.
#GeoPain: Awareness and openness to communicate are some of the most difficult things for a #ChronicPainPatient to build when they're dealing with a community that isn't open to hearing their voice. Let's encourage a more positive community that's willing to #HearYourVoice.
“Because the body’s nerves are constantly firing they never get a rest, so when they get triggered by “smaller” things, they will hurt more than a “regular” person.” Please Don't Confuse My #ChronicPain With 'Low Pain Tolerance' https://t.co/F7yZlh7yig #chronicillness#cpp
People with chronic pain have a new tool to answer the question: "Where exactly does it hurt?" A new electronic body map allows patients, clinicians and scientists to describe the location and intensity of painful body regions. https://t.co/ZQp1Ju4NQN
#ChronicPain isn't one-dimensional. That's why we prefer to take a multi-faceted approach to chronicling your #PainJourney. The new #GeoPain will allow for multiple measures of pain recording and an enhanced post-entry analysis to help you #ConquerYourPain.
“Pushing through #ChronicPain simply doesn’t work and can completely disable you for days, weeks, months or years… Our bodies will literally disable themselves. And us. Because they should never ever be put under this kind of strain.” https://t.co/ijAAcgviWv #chronicillness#cpp
Anyone know any disabled researchers working on their own conditions?
Like, is there a scientist out there with fibromyalgia looking into chronic pain, for example??
Acknowledgement is key. Conquering pain requires acceptance and knowledge of one's conditions before beginning to seek remedies. #GeoPain encourages #PainPatients to conquer their pain and take the next steps towards having control on life.
#TherapeuticYoga and meditation have been widely used as techniques to combat the mental toll that #ChronicPain takes on a patient. Sustained physical activity in any capacity is an effective remedy towards conquering the #Depression that pain can cause.
"COVID-19 has amplified many health issues, such as those suffering from chronic pain," says Jaime Lewis, MD, palliative care physician who specializes in supportive oncology. "And therapeutic yoga offers a more patient-centered approach of treatment." https://t.co/vT4z3E2IZU
Just reading my copy of ‘The Pain Free Mindset’ by @DeepakRavindra5 and available from 4 Mar. Aimed primarily at patients/carers but also looks really useful for GPs/HCPs dealing with chronic pain. Loads of important information and useful tips, and easy and interesting to read.
"Chronic pain is always there, it takes over everything." You can not see it, but: the pain is real. Hear the story of some patients who shared their struggle with us: https://t.co/GVj8gmYJFO #NowYouHearMe
