@samhall404 Sorry to hear this Sam, you have suffered enough. These doctors don’t know anything about CYPs. I have the same thing going on with fluoxetine and propranolol and CYP2D6. I hope you get some relief soon.
@DrAnnieHickox@AhmadRehanKhan@DrJosefWD Most people who were not on the meds for long! There is a large and growing population of people sadly in protracted withdrawal lasting years. This problem is only getting bigger sadly and many practitioners cannot see it or refuse to see it (yet)…. It isn’t going to go away.
@samhall404@shakespeare34@ProfRobHoward@Foreman1David@rcpsych Electing a person who has history of taking payments from drug companies is deeply troubling. Conflict of interest and lack of impartiality. Such an important time for UK psych, hope they don’t mess this up.
@drchatterjeeuk Not only they are not working they are causing iatrogenic harm and leave people hooked on ineffective meds. It’s criminal that doctors remain ill informed about this.
@PieAreSqwared Yeah I totally get this (I’ve walked and am still walking this path) and I bet the psychiatrists never warned you of the risk of harm. There is still a long way to go in education of psychiatrists. I mean ultimately they are just legalised drug pushers.
@omityah@PieAreSqwared SSRIs help because they numb difficult emotions. They also cause PSSD and increase the risk of suicidality in people during withdrawal. Your profession needs to be a lot clearer of the withdrawal risks and the risks in swapping medications.
@samhall404 Hi Sam, I recently got accepted by the Deprescribing service as well. Your story resonates very much with mine. I wish you well on the journey.
@BasedPsychMD Paroxetine is hands down the worst SSRI. Proven sexual dysfunction in 70% of people who take it. The true essence of a medication that lobotomises.
@thelucyjohnston@carlheneghan No one telling you how hard these meds are to get off or that withdrawal effects were not tested on patients who had only been on meds for 12 weeks is equally scandalous
