@orangesandy My remote program was 9 months so I liked that better than a couple years. Anyways, about 1 year of practicing. 1 and 1/4 years of HR. I was held back. And 5 months of job search. From initial interest to job almost 3 years.
@orangesandy I started playing with code 9 months before I decided to try to change career. I had a friend who went to hack reactor and recommended it. I already have a collection of bachelors and masters degrees and have spent too many years in school so I didn’t want to do that again.
@DownboundT @RemusJLupin2017 @abbynormansays @bizzimomma2 Continued from last tweet: as a software engineer. I have two young kids and at my teaching experience level it didn’t seem like there were many options that wouldn’t require 2 steps back. I had no alternatives I could come up with besides SWE. I used education as my SWE niche
@DownboundT @RemusJLupin2017 @abbynormansays @bizzimomma2 I went into the remote part time where I had class on the evenings and saturdays while I kept my day job teaching. It was pretty intense and once I was done it was not easy to get my foot in the door, but about 5 months after graduation I got into a company as a see.
@DownboundT @RemusJLupin2017 @abbynormansays @bizzimomma2 I was toying with coding for a few months with some beginners online lessons and programs. From a recommendation of a friend when I realized I was serious about a career change, I prepared for and applied for Hack Reactor.
@cliff_mars great. The first is bad for America because it picks and chooses a religion and the second is not something that The Christian community wants at all. I can see why this would be a worry.
