@SlowToWrite Uh.. π€ maturity & compatibility are two that quickly came to mind. More βChristiansβ get divorced bcuz they got married too quick and never did the premarital & marital work necessary to withstand & joyfully overcome the obstacle course of marriage.
I couldn't be more proud of our girl! Sheβll spend a third of her summer at a @YoungLife camp, and the week before we take her to college, sheβs choosing to go be about her Father's business, where He first called her during the summer of her sophomore year!
Please prayerfully consider her words. https://t.co/tIQf8GBjs9
@griffingulledge Hmm, what if bcuz of the day some have read into βidentity in Christβ contemporary theories, rather than allowing its plain rendering. βIn Christβ is the subject. βIdentityβ is the object. Christians are βin Christ,β thus so is their identity. The principle is not modern.
I would love it if you could help our good friend Pastor Derek and his sponsored church plant to help grow their YouTube channel in order to reach their community in Monrovia and Pasadena, CA. Please subscribe here: https://t.co/Bu7Kjh8Bte
ββ¦But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even more so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace will reign through righteousness, resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.β (Romans 5:20-21)
Thatβs it. Thatβs the post. ππΌππΌ #ifitwerenotforthegraceofGod
@AdrielTweets Agreed.
Ironically, Eric is remiss of the fact that βanythingβ can become an idol. Jesus said whatβs in the heart defiles (Mt 15:16-20) and to love anyone more than Him is unworthy of Him (Mt 10:37, Lk 14:26). Later, Calvin would remark that the heart is an idol-making factory.
@jasonkovacs Yup, get plugged into a grace-filled, gospel-centric, biblically-grounded, Jesus-loving, down-to-earth community of believers in a local church! And donβt just go on Sundays, participate & engage in their discipleship. You have much to receive but also much to offer.
@erichoke Sometimes not even for βteachersβ. I know youβre aware of this, but normative size churches appear best suited for the gift-role of βshepherdβ. Hence, equipping pastors might feel stifled by inertia as solo-pastors. They tend to thrive as part of a pastoral team/staff.
βHolyβ is that which elicits in the worshiper both fear and fascination. (Rudolph Otto)
Amen & amen! ππΌ
May my life be increasingly marked by Godβs holiness.
Let us thank God for all the ordinary Christians who daily love their neighbors and live by faith in the resurrected Christ.
They are the secret and sacred agents in the kingdom of God. The world will never know them, and itβs much better that way.
They work openly, yet in secret, in small acts of self-sacrifice that subvert the reigning egocentric ethos of a world saturated with emotion and dry of truth.
They consider others more important than themselves. They make it their ambition to lead quiet lives. And they raise their children to believe a life well lived is in the pursuit of serving others.
They daily pray, confess their sins, and cast themselves upon the mercy of Christ. He forgives and raises them up to forgive others, to show mercy, to speak the truth in love.
No one will reward them or applaud them. Nor do they seek such recognition.
They are simply living as children of God, content with his approval in Christ.
Their lives are an ongoing doxology whispered in holy anonymity while passing through this dying world on the way to resurrection.
