In 1909 Frank Keegan was one of the rescue party that saved 26 miners at West Stanley. So even though his grandson Kevin was a Yorkshireman, there were deep bonds of affection - and genetics - that tied KK to the North East. It’s hard to express just how much much we loved him. RIP King Kev
I was there when Kevin opened the monument in Stanley. A monument to the 168 who died. Frank Keegan went back into the mine to rescue people. He was a local hero. It ran in the family.
Truly heartbroken to post this on behalf of the Keegan family...
It is with immense sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75. The former England player and manager had been battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments. Kevin, a double Ballon D’or winner, was a much loved husband, father and grandfather. The family would like to thank Kevin’s incredible medical team for all their support. This is a hugely difficult time and they are requesting space and privacy.
Johan Manzambi deal to Newcastle not finalised and the hold up naturally a concern given how long it’s dragged on for.
The player has to make a decision. Fee and personal terms not an issue. Newcastle need a definitive answer. They have alternative targets. #nufc
Another successful BBQ and Chinese Lantern launch with my buddies at the Magnifying Glass Collectors Club up on Saddleworth Moor yesterday. Great catching up with the lads.
@SockCouncil Even if I was considering it (which I’m definitely not), the videos of people throwing pints everywhere make me want to be nowhere near a pub while the football is on. Which is a shame.
@stephb____ Me and the boy are somehow 3550th ish. Still no chance for the foreseeable future and I think we were priority 1 due to two years membership and us entering every ballot going (not winning many mind!)
