@boriquagato Pretty obvious that capital gains tax should be indexed for inflation, as should tax on interest received. But there seems to be zero political will to do this.
@WallStreetMav We should be glad illegal immigration raised the value of our homes, because this provides us with the financial resources to pay the taxes for public services and welfare that illegal immigrants take. ๐
@romanhelmetguy Great movie! Some of these Christian or patriotic films are just simplistic and cheesy, but this one captures the picture of life being a hard slog, and the difficulty and tragedy of handling failure. That is, it rings true, and avoids the trap of being just another fairy tale.
@sbarna@romanhelmetguy Before calculators came along and made everything easy, we had to count on our fingers. For big problems, we took off our shoes. ๐
@romanhelmetguy This does concern me. We used to have to carry a lot of data in our heads to get by. If you needed a product, a book, some information, you had to have a mental template ready. Now you need know nothing, your answer is handed to you. It's great, it's useful, it might kill us all.
@WallStreetMav I dunno, this smells like finding someone we don't like and going after him, not because he's uniquely bad, but because he's got deep pockets and we want his stash. Not to imply FB or Zuckerberg is good, but in the context of crime, riots, stolen elections, gender dysphoria, etc.
@CynicalPublius We've developed an expectation that it's "natural" for authority to oversee every aspect of our lives. If you want to install a microwave oven, you'll start with the question of what approval or inspection is required. We've got to make people realize this is the serf's reflex.
@GavinNewsom California elections are STOLEN. No ID to register or vote, ballots mailed to everyone and their dog, and "harvested" by political operatives. No chain of custody. Who filled them out? If the people do vote "wrong", a crooked judge throws out the result. CRIMINAL GOVERNMENT.
@pmarca Sure, the cost of healthcare as tripled, but imagine how much worse it would have been if they hadn't passed Obamacare. (Yes, this comment is SATIRE! ๐)
@WallStreetMav That Orwell quote comes to mind: "One has to belong to the intelligentsia to believe things like that: no ordinary man could be such a fool." Intelligence is not the same as wisdom, and many "intelligent" people use their intellect to rationalize the most insane nonsense.
@WallStreetApes Income tax is the death of financial privacy. To enforce the tax, the government requires full access to everything you have. No search warrant needed, and, if challenged, you are guilty until proven innocent. If criminals were treated like taxpayers, the ACLU would throw a fit.
@WallStreetApes Drone delivery is coming, or even here in pilot locations. Hang around and your meal will drop in from the sky, and no interfacing with dubious personnel. Which will either be great or inhuman, depending on your outlook.
@prattprattpratt Washington's story is truly inspirational, in that he could have led a military takeover, which is what typically happens after a revolution, but he yielded to civilian rule. Check out this great memoir by a foot soldier in the Continental Army: https://t.co/8H8N3Fx34v
