We live in a day in time where people that know nothing of production, cinematography, story telling, music, lighting, directing, and allegorical meaning call this movie “bad.” Keyboard warriors that know nothing of what makes a movie “good.” This movie is a cinematic masterpiece and we are lucky to be alive to witness another adaptation of a 3,000 year old story filmed on 70mm IMAX cameras.

@Saywurrd@JenResistedAGN Geez you’re insufferable.. this has nothing to do with truth. Again, you’re reminding me as to why it’s absolutely pointless arguing with Christian’s. Particularly ignorant ones..
@Saywurrd@JenResistedAGN Here you go. Take a look at this video. You reminded me why arguing with a Christian is useless so I am going to step away. Keep “contextualizing” your war God, who by the way, is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And who somehow is also Jesus Christ 😂
When did I personally say anything about toddlers? I’m referring specifically to your comment about the “context” comment of your reply. I’m not stripping away shit 🤣 I literally quoted the bible verse. Unfortunately for you, you’re the one “forcing the caricature.” You’re making inferences about this verse that are completely unknowable based off the verse whether it’s NLT, or the original Hebrew. There’s no historical or cultural context needed here. The verse is very explicit about what happened. You seem to have also missed my point about it not mattering the age of these individuals. They were mauled by bears for calling a prophet bald. How do you not see the issue with that? 😂 You either have to argue your point to make it make sense for yourself, or you’re a yahweh follower who is okay with your god being so aggressive and violent. I’d prefer the latter since at least it would mean you’re not ignorant.
The verse from the NLT that I literally quoted says “group of boys.” Not hostile mob. But let me guess the specific bible translation matters? It is irrelevant if they were young boys or grown men. All the verse says is “youths” were mauled for calling him baldy. The Hebrew word used here, since that’s important to you, is “בָּקַע” or baqa which means to cleave, rip open, split, or breakthrough. You are inferring they were a large aggressive gang. Even though the Hebrew says absolutely nothing about an “aggressive gang.” You have to cope to make sense of the supposed creator deity who acts upon his prophets curses for being called baldy. Complete nonsense.
“Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. “Go away, baldy!” they chanted. “Go away, baldy!” Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of them. From there Elisha went to Mount Carmel and finally returned to Samaria.”
2 Kings 2:23-25 NLT
“Context matters” yeah okay dumbass. So one of yahweh’s “holy” prophets curses a group of young boys and 2 bears come out and slaughter all of them for calling him baldy. What other context do I need to be looking for? “Divine judgement” for calling a prophet baldy? Insanity.
Zechariah 14? The same chapter that says “I will gather all the nations to fight against Jerusalem. The city will be taken, the houses looted, and the women raped. Half the population will be taken into captivity, and the rest will be left among the ruins of the city.”
Zechariah 14:2 NLT

What god would allow this to happen 🤣 it is so unbelievable that people subscribe to such a “deity.”
Later in the chapter it even states “And the Lord will send a plague on all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. Their people will become like walking corpses, their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.”
Zechariah 14:12 NLT

My point stands again, how in anyone’s right mind can you have faith in such a “god.” Who also somehow happens to be the same god (Jesus) in the New Testament. Makes no sense.
“Shroud of Turn confirmed as real.” The Shroud of Turin has never been confirmed authentic. Although it is a subject of great debate and fascination, it is by absolutely no means confirmed authentic. Although I’m sure they would love to, the Vatican has not even confirmed its authenticity. We don’t even need to get into the other references here 😂
I appreciate the responses! Just to be sure, even if it is just 1, this 1 adds a whole different layer to the theology of the early Christian church, tying in Neo Platonism to early church liturgy and theology. Which to me adds a whole different layer to understand early Christian thought. Especially considering how influential it was. Of note is also the Pseudo Methodius, the Apostolic Constitutions, and the Gospel of Nicodemus. When you really think about Pseudepigraphal texts, I find that they are a huge issue for the Church as a whole. Individuals claiming to be an important early church figure, writing down things that had significant influence on the early church. That poses a major problem for the church in my opinion considering the impact these imposters had.
I did have regard, but this isn’t a matter of a canonical list or not. The Pseudo D was never meant to be canonized. However, for over 1,000 years it was recognized as having been written by an extremely influential early church figure and has a significant impact on the early to medieval church. The Orthodox Church held and still holds him and his pseudo writings in extremely high regard. My reply was simply to point out that your statement was inaccurate and just because something wasn’t included in a “canon list” does not remove its importance.
Did you just say “But NONE of the 2nd century (or later) pseudepigraphal works ever got any traction.” This is horrendously false. The Corpus Dionysiacum had enormous traction. The pseudepigraphal text was accepted as being written by a convert of the apostle Paul himself and was accepted as authentic for a millennia. It profoundly shaped both Eastern and Western Christian thought, introducing apophatic theology and hierarchical structures of angels and church orders. Thinkers like John Scotus Eriugena, Thomas Aquinas, and the Franciscan tradition drew heavily from it. That is a wild claim you just made
Hey Aaron thanks for the response! Before I reply, I want to be clear that I am not a Jesus mythicist. I do believe he walked this Earth. But I have seen apologists use this example far too many times and it is completely fallacious. Most of these “25,000” manuscripts come far past the 5th century. Scholars argue about when the New Testament was written, and have an even harder time attributing the NT text to their proclaimed authors. Most attributions came way later on by early church fathers. Even if we take a guess at when they were written (which it’s usually agreed upon sometime in the mid to late 1st century, and that’s being conservative) the earliest surviving manuscript we have is a tiny little papyrus fragment - which I’m sure you’re aware of- called P52, dated paleographically to 125-175 CE. Using the same argument found in the original post, there is an astounding amount of archaeological, literary, and numismatic evidence for both Alexander and Julius Caesar. The entire Levant was name Caesarea by Herod the Great for 1…one of the greatest cities of the ancient world was named after Alexander.. we have coinage and cross cultural references to each of these figures spanning across centuries of time. The world would not be the same had Julius or Alexander never existed and I haven’t even mentioned Plato yet. I hope you see where I’m going with this. Plato’s academy was founded in 387 BCE by Plato, and was shut down by Justinian 529 CE. An entire timeline of philosophic, ontological, epistemological influence of the Hellenistic world that would continue for millennia. An entire thought movement that lasted thousands of years and is still explored today. Lest we forget Neo aka Late Platonism a school of thought heavily influenced by, and a continuation of the Platonic thought of which many early Christians and Jews were heavily influenced by. (Origen, Clement, the Cappadocian Fathers, Augustine of Hippo, the list goes on..) This was a lot to read, I hope you see where I’m coming from. This isn’t an argument of “Jesus didn’t exist” but more an argument against this complete ignorance of the original post that I continue to see, and an attempt to view the history of religions (specifically Christianity) and ancient peoples and cultures through a non biased, historical lens.
@Gnosisinformant I think it’s still worth noting that without Islamic scholars, a lot of what we have for Aristotle and many ancient sages would be lost to us had it not been translated from the Greek into Arabic, and later into Latin. Not that they discovered it, but in a sense kept It alive.
@Gnosisinformant He’s not a random YouTuber, Neal. He has a channel with 5.57m subscribers. Wouldn’t really call that random. If you checked out one of his videos you would see the amount of effort that goes into his research on both sides of every “conspiracy.” The for and against.
@Gnosisinformant@BrightInsight6 Story we’re lead to believe. What fascinates me is these are the same patterns one sees when one uses entheogens that grow straight from the ground that have been used for millennia. That’s where things get real hairy.
@Gnosisinformant@BrightInsight6 Objective research, and I understand the world of academics. As someone who doesn’t have the credibility yet I have the freedom to look at it from all sides knowing simultaneously how scholarly discussion of the Esoteric should be held. There’s more out there than the actual
