@irishpeloton ITV’s coverage recognises and celebrates cycling culture and the passion we all have for it. Whereas, TNT treat it like a football game and it’s too clinical for me. Especially for 300 and odd quid.

- The try before you buy position- sampling change … end of 🧵
At the end of an enjoyable but challenging week, Chapter 4- Leadership is all about People in ‘Is Leadership a Race?’ By Sam Strickland came back to me via some of my reflections on events from the week: a 🧵 …
Everything comes back to one thing: people. Leaders bring out the best in people.
- Leaders build teams- jigsaw approach- pieces are different but fit together as one
- Trust shifts mindsets and builds identity. Believe in people and they go the extra mile for you…
- Leaders codify behaviours they want to see in response to goals
- Rushing decisions is often biggest threat to a school’s development- sleep on them
- Prior planning prevents poor performance
Despite already feeling that context is central and strategic planning fundamental to good execution, chapter 3 Respect your context… of ‘Is Leadership a Race?’ By Sam Strickland challenged me to consider that… a 🧵…
- Being ambitious via Big, hairy, audacious goals is crucial for the school community
- Setting the right tone in a school can bring people with you
- Documents that outline important policies/approaches should fit on one page
- Using solution circles to respond to those mistakes- humility to learn from others. You don’t have all the answers
The book is brilliantly digestible, especially when you are tired and busy after long working days. Highly recommend! End of 🧵
Continuing my reflections on ‘Is Leadership a Race?’ by Sam Strickland. Chapter 2: ‘Be True to Who You Are’. A 🧵…
- First impressions count- block out judgement, don’t dread it
- Stay authentic- limit adaptations to leadership style so you present the real you. The best leadership style is your leadership style
- 1000 decision making reality- mistakes will be made so learn from them and keep moving forward
