Students participated in our 2nd student- led discovery day, “Curiosity Camp 🏕️”today! We are focused on being critical thinkers and effective communicators. Students were not only engaged, but learned how to identify, synthesize, and present their findings.
We studied the remarkable women in Hidden Figures. First graders found character traits, wrote a book review, and built paper airplanes. Students tracked data on their test flights and made adjustments… just like the women of Hidden Figures! @OFCSDistrict #BlackHistory
Today we celebrated Groundhog Day by performing a readers theatre using our @DoInkTweets green screen app! Check out these fearless first grade readers who obviously didn’t get scared away by their shadows! 😊 https://t.co/yd4RsC6Cjg

A big thank you to the @ofhsbulldogs ASL Club for visiting our classroom today! The first graders were so engaged by the holiday sign language activities from the high schoolers! ❄️ 🎶👋
@OFCSDistrict
Today my first graders sank their teeth into fractions, as we created pumpkin pie flip books to give our math lesson some Thanksgiving pizzazz! In related news, I can guarantee that Mr. J will consume “greater-than” one-fourth of a pie during the holiday break! 🥧😋@OFCSDistrict
First graders in Mr. J’s class were excited to greet the veterans that visited Falls-Lenox today for our school parade! I have to admit that I got a bit teary seeing the multi-generational interactions in our halls❤️🇺🇸 #VeteransDay @OFCSDistrict
Mr. J’s 1st graders were treated to a special presentation by Mrs. Carey’s class of their book character pumpkins! What a creative way to dive deep into character analysis by these 3rd graders! We were definitely inspired to check out some new book series! @OFCSDistrict
What a fun day we had for our reading celebration! Our class reads a “latte!” Loved having our parent baristas to help serve!
Special thanks to @RoastedOlmsted for donating authentic coffee cups! It’s so nice to have wonderful community partners in literacy!
@OFCSDistrict
Mr. J’s first graders got to share their writing with third grade buddies in Mrs. Crawford’s class today! What a wonderful opportunity for these young authors to hear encouragement from the older students! @OFCSDistrict
I love Jimmy Buffet’s music and island vibe…it helps me through the Lake Erie winter! DYK that @jimmybuffett wrote the soundtrack music and had an acting role in the movie version of Hoot by @Carl_Hiaasen ? This is a great novel for grades 4-8 that my former students have loved!
