And yet some people, from the comfort of their air-conditioned rooms, dismissed both the need for and the impact of NELFUND. Students have dropped out of school over what others consider a “paltry” ₦10,000, while many more have had to sacrifice their studies to survive through side hustles. You’ll never find me criticizing NELFUND, just as I never criticized the school feeding programme under Buhari.

Some of us attended public universities, and we know there were students who dropped out simply because they couldn’t afford the fees or even the cost of living.

I am pro-education. I don’t care how the government delivers it, if a policy keeps children and young people in school, I’ll support it wholeheartedly.

Nothing liberates the masses more than education. The fact that poor students in public tertiary institutions can apply for NELFUND from the comfort of their rooms and receive approval is, by itself, worthy of commendation.
