Told my kids all year that I wanted them to perform so well that the district thinks I took the test for them:) like in the movie Stand and Deliver. Teenagers love positive reinforcement!

Teacher tip of the day: High five or fist bump any kids you pass in the hallway. Ask them what their name is and how their day is going. It feels good to be noticed, especially when you’re in middle school!

@TrevorMuir I think most school systems offer the opportunity, but it comes down to a plethora of factors. Teacher buy in, the students family life, and the community at large…
I think she has some great points and there is a lot of project-based learning happening already some but @mrbbettis I think it starts at the university level and trickles down. We need better ways to assess college readiness!
Many arguments have been made that grading and accountability are necessary for remote learning. Interesting points made regarding grading. “Students work harder, learn more and are much more likely to thrive in school when they are intrinsically motivated and self-determined.”

I've always found that the more real I am with my students, the more real they are with me. And when that happens, their potential for learning is limitless.
