@mal300_@myles_premium_ I wouldn’t say embezzlement and corruption (though I would say the bribes and corruption are more ingrained into the political class) as making a profit is the nature of a private company.
@myles_premium_ Partially true, it’s the mishandling through private contracts, look at HS2 that’s cost a lot to do due to the fact there’s likely a profit factor for the contractors.
All the stuff that isn’t maintained is either private companies or becoming dependant on private.
@moving_charlie@stuartshakesby@JeffBezos I actually find that shows when you’re talking about housing.
But when it comes to the more business aspects and government etc I feel that goes out the window.
@moving_charlie@stuartshakesby@JeffBezos For some? Yeah? Not for others though. I’m a fine example of that. I would be more distracted in office than I would be working from home.
You’re missing the human aspect to all this.
@moving_charlie@stuartshakesby@JeffBezos As even in office you’ll have plenty of people that would just sit around and not do much.
Things need to happen that impact people and their local communities. Some governmental level areas could help take the pressure off of local councils.
@moving_charlie@stuartshakesby@JeffBezos I’m more suggesting that local communities have been decimated by cuts under the last 15 years.
Could there be some efficiency in the civil service? Yes, would that significantly impact your average person? Not really.
Working from home vs not doesn’t make much of a diff.
@moving_charlie@JeffBezos That’s part of it, but if you’re going to reduce tax on workers, you need to be able tax else where to make up for the shortfall.
Now you could likely do a number of changes in areas like centralising social care, more council housing and sorting things like business rates.
@ValMThatcher@OswinOswald223@PolitlcsUK@Telegraph Trans folk don’t make these rules, you probably should bring it up with the government and HMRC if you have an issue with it.
Tbh it doesn’t hurt me so if it means others get to the right person who can help them, where’s the problem?
@BlazeMeister78@moving_charlie Yeah, I’d also say wealth extraction. While MPs have played a part in enabling that, I wouldn’t say we’re skint because of MPs expenses. (I would argue that staffing costs should be handled by the house rather than done as expenses though)
@BlazeMeister78@moving_charlie Oh my sweet summer child, you don’t even know the half of it. That is on the lower half of MPs expenses.
Colour me surprised that Sunak is the lowest to claim expenses though.
