One of my go to pre-reading activities for Power and Conflict is always to explore a CRUNCHED version of the poem, searching for patterns, tone and semantic field 🍪 Activating prior knowledge and enhancing our initial read has been immeasurable for student confidence! 📈

These are my top tops for making texts accessible.

*1.5- double lined spaced
*line numbers
*Gloss the vocab immediately above the target word
*Add image if easier than words (e.g pikes!)

No 3 also means you can easily read both target & explainer word when reading to class.
