So 4 years into my career change and I still absolutely love reading about it. Just finished this great book by @davewhitaker246 and it has reinforced lots of how I want to teach and the importance of positive relationships. Very thought provoking, would highly recommend.

@missowens_k @MrTs_NQTs Get stuck in straight away and offer to help the teacher in any way you can. Walk around the room getting to know and helping the children. They usually love a new person in the room! Go to work with a smile on your face, this is the best job ever and year 3 is awesome!

@ScottPughsley If certificates are given to children at Assembly every week like at our school, pre-write the names of your class on them. That way you ensure that every child gets at least one at the end of the year.

@MrAKidman @MrTs_NQTs Timberland Bradstreet - smart but they also look like a trainer which is a bonus and are v comfy! Also a pair of black converse.

So now the dust has settled on my first ECT year, here are a few of my thoughts about how I will improve my own teaching next year.
1. Make better use of working walls, remember to add things in the moment.
2. Make as much time as possible to hear children read.
3. Start

@MrsSpedding @MrTs_NQTs A few things - Don’t over plan things like I did at the start; prioritise your never ending to do list; on tough days, think about all the positive things (there will be loads) that you have done that day / week. Enjoy it, it’s a brilliant profession!
