@JacobKenne92848 Not seeing the difference personally when it comes to Disney - to me it still amounts to the same thing overall; it's the OG films they're gonna keep twerking on, rather than the "sequel retcon" plan Doomcock was on about (and stopped being confident about in less than a week😅)

What Lucas is talking about here is feeling his legacy is the fact Star Wars had a massive impact on media history. He is, quite implicitly, not calling the EU "his legacy" - he's more just treating it as proof people cared.

@retneysholocron The problem is... it doesn't work at all, because it does kinda still diminish him the more you know about how the Force works - in this case the fact that being a "Vergence in the Force"... doesn't feel quite as special if some witches in the woods can forcibly replicate it😅.

Like, seriously tho; that is a patently-true statement that, when Episode III was written, the intent was that Anakin & Dooku hadn't directly dueled since then - TCW was Lucas just up and retconning it.

@JamesKruczek @Catlover10000S How could he? 😅 Even aside Lucas' historical ambivalence to the EU beyond cherrypicking stuff he liked... we've known for literally years now that Lucas planned to retcon EU stuff like the Legacy comics and make Darth Talon an antagonist alongside Maul against an older OG cast.

@oofyeeterx @Catlover10000S It's more about *why* he liked them - which, per his interviews, was that he just thought they looked cool and wanted to have his own versions in his canon. But some like to claim it's proof he thought the EU was wholly canon, even though he's sadly on-record saying he hadn't.

@Catlover10000S The most Lucas ever did was admit the EU had cool ideas, or that there were writers who took ideas he'd never have considered and made them work. But at the end of the day, he considered it a separate universe from his own - and sadly, Disney simply stuck to that through line.

@Catlover10000S But even though I liked the EU and generally never liked what Disney did with the canon... that doesn't mean I can turn a blind eye to how this ultimately all started with Lucas. He set the precedent that there was a "hierarchy" - that only the films truly "matter".

@Catlover10000S My whole point here is that you're doing what you accused Disney's fans of; you're adamantly refusing to accept when a content-creator disregarded a fanbase's feelings. In this case, Lucas with his ambivalence towards the EU as anything more than an idea-factory to pinch from.

@Catlover10000S Like, the things Lucas liked were his design and the overview of him as a "Dirty Harry" type of Jedi; he never expressed that "his" canonized version of the character would take word-for-word after the version in the comics. At best he considered it a reference bed, not binding.

@Catlover10000S I’m not even trying to be mean here, either; it’s just that (mis)quoting Lucas ad-nausism isn’t gonna make your argument suddenly work out if you persistently divorce it from the contest it was made from. In this case, the fact Lucas saw the EU as a toy box he had more rights to.
