@WSJ@ronniecharrier, as a college counselor, can you believe this is still a go-to method for clicks now? It's so incredibly harmful for kids in so many ways. Find your fit. Not your schools' rankings.
@SheaSerrano Agreed. Think back to when you were a teacher. That's my world now. I don't have the option sadly
But here's to hoping the kids realize that soon too.
When you play pickup hoops at a court in France for the Olympics and it’s against 7 year olds, it’s important to remember the fundamentals of a good pick and roll. Let me and @MrMuenker demonstrate.
IF THE GENIE IS OUT OF THE BOTTLE, WE MIGHT AS WELL MAKE THREE WISHES: AI and EDUCATION
The transformative power of AI represents an opportunity for educators to take a bold step with their students to explore this exciting and fraught realm.

It's where I started my now 14 year (and counting) teaching career. Even the most challenging students usually just want to know you want to be there with them and that you like to talk with them not at them. Also each of them deserve a fresh start day. No grudges.
the two main things you need to know:
1. those kids are gonna pull your arms and legs off for the next two or three years
2. as long as you make it clear every day that you wanna be in that particular classroom with those particular kids things are gonna work out okay for you
What a fascinating listen.

As someone who has worked with my wife as long as I've known her, I found the bit about the role of partners fulfilling social needs on the rise particularly interesting. Looking forward to Part 2.
This weekend's IB conference in Vancouver and my new school's commitment to offering IB Global Politics, has me as excited to teach as I've been in a long time. Having kids explore what they care about in politics is incredibly invigorating.

@GWyncoll66 I'm finishing up The Whole-Brain Child right now. It has a lot of advice and strategies for coaching emotional regulation for little ones up to teens. I think you'd find it helpful too.
We do this with every subject. In what career do you only do History without Language Arts? Science without Math?Programs like the Innovation Academy in Lima, @fdrinnovate are the future of schools. It's true within disciplines and transfiscplinary. @cvtopf@JoeBonnici@DanKerr1
When people learn carpentry, they don't take one class on hammering, another class on cutting, & then another class on finishing. 🧐 Why do we dissect math into multiple subjects and NEVER offer a class where we put it all together to build something interesting? 🤔#iteachmath
JUST ANNOUNCED:@khanacademy and @ConstitutionCtr will launch a FREE online course, providing high school students a nonpartisan opportunity to learn about the core principles of the Constitution and civil dialogue.
Incredibly troubling trend. We had several of these at schools I've worked at recently. Trends of threats of violence, destruction of property (devious licks), and general foolishness harms learning. We wonder why there's a massive teacher shortage.

Can we please stop trying to make Hurricane Ian political? The 'Did Biden call DeSantis or not?' 'Will Republicans need government handouts now?' etc. Every single topic doesn't have to come down to Republican vs Democrat. Some people are in real danger. We don't need hot takes.
