Differentiate instruction allows teachers to focus on multiple strengths and weaknesses of children in their class. It is important to use this because each child has different needs and we need to appreciate and address each one. #ecedifferentiate
I believe the Keywords system is one that can really help kids learn words that are important in their life. This system can be used as an addition to the Key Vocabulary to help students better understand the creativity and freshness in new words. #JMUREAD#READ366#W11
WTW says that the differences between each type of sort have to deal with the different types of English Orthography. These differences allow each student to learn words from the teacher and apply the words by themselves. #JMUREAD#READ366#W11
In Words their Way they talk about the same things that Tompkins talks about dealing with word studies. In addition to what Tompkins says, WTW explains the differences in sound, pattern, and meaning sorts. #JMUREAD#READ366#W11
Under the academic vocabulary are three tiers. These tiers are used to help students learn words that are used in multiple ways. The tiers provide different types of words that will help kids communicate effectively later in life. #JMUREAD#READ366#W11
Tompkins talks about academic vocabularies and how teachers can use them in order to provide word study words. I believe that this is important because it is useful for students to know that words come in multiple forms and are used in different ways. #JMUREAD#READ366#W11
Words Their Way incorporates some of the same principles my CT tells me to use when going over letter names and sounds. By using these guidelines it makes it much easier for kids to understand what they are trying to do!
In my future classroom I hope to be able to teach my students letter sounds to help them fully grasp the alphabetic principle. By doing this my kids will understand that individual speech sounds can be represented by letters of the alphabet #JMUREAD#READ366#W8
In my future classroom I hope to be able to incorporate rhyming activities when going over word studies. Words Their Way talks about how important they are to allow children to begin to focus on speech sounds and I agree with them.

Words Their Way points out an excellent type of reading follow up called a planned extension. I believe this is very crucial for children to do because it gives them key ideas on how they and others in the class are comprehending the reading. #Read366#W6
Tompkins talks about oral language and the ways of developing it. My CT allows me to be the leader in word study groups where I help the children work on phonology and semantics. #JMURead#Read366#W6
At my practicum the teacher does a good job of shared reading to introduce to kids the concept of word. He points to the word and has the children mimic him as they read it together. This helps each child scan from left to right and see every sound within the word #Read366#W6
