@MiStormChasers Sat/sitting outside and watched the storm. Some booming thunder and lightning in the clouds.
Loving the rolling thunder roaring across the sky!
Sun is already starting to show again.
Real talk—Memorial Day.
This weekend is a tough one for a lot of us.
It’s easy to find yourself in a dark place, asking “why?”
Why them?
Why not me?
Why were we there in the first place?
You’re allowed to do this, but I always tell people to focus on two simple things this weekend:
1. Remember them the way they would want to be remembered.
2. Do them proud.
You can’t change the past, you can only move forward.
Do it for them.
Welcome home Reid, Victor, Christina, and Jeremy! 🫶

@EODHappyCaptain Yes! It became a rule in our platoon, that whoever got back to base first after a mission had to go to grab enough burgers and fries for everyone.
It’d be around 0200 and we would get bitched at every time for being dirty, unshaven, etc.
The world doesn’t know what it has awakened in the U.S. military. After two failed wars and capped by a catastrophe like Abbey Gate, the most bitter ending to the campaign imaginable.
It has no earthly idea what’s risen from the depths. Americans love to win. And normally I’d echo Patton: “America doesn’t tolerate losers.” But that would be wrong, because we did. For far too long. And it cost us our finest.
Losing isn’t always tied to a person. Sometimes it’s to a process. Either way, the excuses end here.
The fire that now burns in our hearts to make sure this never happens again is brighter than a thousand suns.
It sounds dramatic, because it is. It’s the only reason I’m still here. It’s the only reason many of us are still here. To right the wrongs. To stop the next disaster. To build an America that commands respect. And if respect won’t work, then fear will do.
What stirs inside us can’t be captured by normal language. Just know this: the flame lit at Abbey Gate will not die, it will forge the warriors who come after us.
