@LouGirl502@LuckySignSpirit Yes. Corn canes have less sugar than sugar cane but it still have a lot. Similar to a mild whiskey wash in terms of fermentability. It has the weirdest undefinable fruit flavor.
I've wanted to do this for years. It's a new start for the distillery to be closer to farmers and explain how distilling extends the agricultural economic cycle.
After years of trying I've finally found not one, but two orchards selling dansone plums. I can make legit slivovitz! And by pure luck they are still a week or two away from being in season so I have time to plan for them.
@cocktailchem Direct heating elements mimic direct fired stills. Not common at scale but common with craft folks. I have not heard of any induction stills. The idea is sound though. As with any direct heat setup you have to protect against scorching.
