I'm re-sharing an article I co-authored with Chad Uyehara and Megan Vosk (@megan_vosk) for @AMLE: Five Ways to Support LGBTQIA+ Students This Pride Month and Beyond.
As educators, we have the opportunity—and responsibility—to create learning environments where every student feels seen, valued, safe, and empowered to be their authentic selves. In this article, we explore practical strategies for fostering belonging and supporting LGBTQIA+ students throughout the year, not just during Pride Month.
I hope you'll take a few moments to read, reflect, and consider how we can continue building more inclusive and affirming schools for all learners.

🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈
Pride Month is a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals and communities. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, respected, and empowered to be their authentic selves.
As a gay educator and community leader, I believe that belonging matters. Every person deserves to feel safe, supported, and accepted for who they are. This month, let's celebrate the diversity that makes our communities stronger and commit to fostering inclusion, empathy, and understanding.
Wishing all a joyful and meaningful Pride Month. Keep shining brightly, sharing your story, and embracing who you are. 🌈✨

"Being an advocate for high-quality mathematics means working to ensure that every student experiences mathematics as something they can understand, use, & enjoy—not just something they have to get through."

April is Arab American Heritage Month—a time to celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Arab Americans.

April is World Autism Month, a time to celebrate neurodiversity, raise awareness, and build a more inclusive world for individuals with autism.
Autism is a natural part of human diversity. This month is about recognizing and honoring the unique strengths, perspectives, and experiences of autistic individuals while also promoting understanding, acceptance, and support.
Let’s move beyond awareness and focus on acceptance and inclusion—listening to autistic voices, embracing differences, and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and supported. Together, we can create a community where every individual is seen, heard, and empowered to thrive.

Empowering the next generation of thinkers! It’s STEM Month in New Jersey — a time to celebrate curiosity, problem-solving, and the technical skills that drive our state forward.
In my latest blog post, “Unraveling the Mystery of 3.14... and Beyond!”, I explore the joy of π and invite students to experience it through curiosity, pattern-seeking, and mathematical wonder. I also invite students to explore applications in STEM with a NASA Receiver Riddle challenge.
From circles to infinite decimals, this post digs into ways to make π meaningful, engaging, and deeply connected to student thinking. https://t.co/6ySPEFvA1n

I recently joined Nicole Hamilton and Lucas Owen as a panelist in a webinar titled “An AI-Resistant Approach to Teaching Statistics,” which explored how statistics instruction must evolve in a world where generative AI can quickly perform calculations and produce answers. Rather than focusing on limiting AI, the conversation centered on designing learning experiences that emphasize human reasoning, curiosity, and authentic data exploration.
