प्रायः सभी बांग्ला समाचार पत्रों ने उपस्थिति को कम करके दिखाने की कोशिश की। 'बर्तमान' पत्र नेे इसे हजार तो 'गणशक्ति' ने कई एक सौ लिखा। पुलिस के अनुसार 11बजकर30 मिनट तक 35 से 40 हज़ार की उपस्थिति थी। शिक्षकों का आना 1 बजे तक जारी था।
