@DAMendelsohnNYC@cur8orofearth@getty_a96716@holland_tom@TheRestHistory I have always wondered if Helen ages, or shows the effects of aging. Perhaps that could create some interesting images for a filmmaker. In flashbacks to the war Helen and the other characters all appear young. In the narrative present she remains youthful and others have aged.
@NotHoodlum I saw her in New Orleans on consecutive nights as she started her tour after the release of Private Dancer. Absolutely the two hottest shows I have ever experienced. Unforgettable! She was the greatest.
@AntigoneJournal Many, many good choices! Hereโs a rephrasing of the question: what lost workโs recovery would have an impact closest to the recovery of de Rerum Natura?
@tolkienthoughts The History of the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire is a work that every English gentleman believes he has read. Donโt know the source. Trollope, perhaps.
@DAMendelsohnNYC@mcgillmd921 Indeed. I was recently pleased to see my impromptu effort, greeted with curdling amusement by two of the readers who wanted obeisance to German orthodoxy, largely vindicated by Morstein-Marx in his โJulius Caesarโ - a rare solace this late in life.
Ah, yes. And Symeโs Roman Revolution. I recall that in my oral defense one reader thanked me for my fluent regurgitation of their reading of the events leading up to Pharsalus and invited me to propose an alternative explanation based on my understanding of the primary sources. ๐ฎ
@gaius44julius@mcgillmd921 I would pick Hadrian, who commissioned the Pantheon that we see in the picture. Agrippa commissioned the temple whose portico was repurposed and, as a grace note by Hadrian, still bears his name and dedication.
