the governor of Massachusetts Maura Healey has signed to make HAGGIS legal in Massachusetts 😂 everyday I Keep Finding funny happy stuff with Scotland Fans,
This has real practical implications for wanting to search specifically for female MSPs on the parlliament website and with the filters now removed, their representation is obsured. Bonkers.
I still don't understand the *why* of this, what was the push factor? Where was the compelling case to change this? As I understand it, it moves us further out of step with practice around the world, so why was this step taken, and why universally supported/no pushback at all?
Never fails to amaze me the difference in the quality of trains on the main rail line between Edinburgh and Glasgow and the line which runs through Livingston to Airdrie to Glasgow, which I normally get. That line is clearly the poor cousin.
Just won my first victory in the House of Lords. An amendment I tabled to the Crime and Policing Bill that will permanently do away with non-crime hate incidents -- co-sponsored by Lords Hogan-Howe and Strasberger -- won by 227 votes to 221. 👊
Police Scotland admit to treating Tory MSP Murdo Fraser differently from former SNP First Minister Humza Yousaf, as it issues a humiliating apology.
The force logged a Non-Crime Hate Incident (NCHI) against Murdo after a member of the public complained about a gender-critical post he had made on X.
Murdo Fraser rightly pointed out that he had been treated more harshly than other public figures — including J.K. Rowling and former first minister Humza Yousaf.
Police Scotland now admit that they had not applied NCHI guidelines “consistently” and have issued a full apology.
We were proud to support Murdo in his two-year legal battle.
What is clear is that NCHIs are a waste of police time and taxpayer money. They have been weaponised by activists to try to silence those they disagree with.

🚨 Police Scotland have apologised to Tory MSP Murdo Fraser after a social media row that led to a two-year legal battle.
The force has admitted that the Non-Crime Hate Incident (NCHI) guidelines were “not applied consistently” in relation to Fraser’s gender-critical tweet.
In a letter seen by The Telegraph, Police Scotland acknowledge that @murdo_fraser’s case was handled differently “versus reported incidents involving other prominent public figures”.
What’s clear is that NCHIs are being weaponised by activists seeking to silence voices they disagree with. The police should focus on tackling real crime on our streets, not policing “hurty tweets”.
The simple solution is to abolish NCHIs altogether.
FSU Scotland Director @fraserihudghton said: “This is an important win for Murdo. For Police Scotland to acknowledge it isn’t always a level playing field in the recording of NCHIs or other ‘hate’ allegations is worrying. Issues will arise around public trust as a result.
“One thing which urgently needs addressing is the misuse of our ‘perception-based’ reporting system by bad actors. It allows activists to exploit our criminal justice framework to target opponents.”
The Free Speech Union is delighted with this outcome and proud to have supported Murdo throughout.

I am delighted that after a 2-year legal battle, I have received an unreserved apology from @PoliceScotland for the recording of a ‘non-crime hate incident’ in relation to my criticism of SNP gender policy. Huge thanks to @SpeechUnion for their support. https://t.co/PYvzdTgR4p
The right to a jury trial in the most fundamental criminal cases is a guarantee of equal justice for every one of us. If a government cuts that right instead of funding the system, it isn’t reform it’s endangering the freedom of us all.
